Chubut (Welsh: Talaith Chubut; Spanish: Provincia del Chubut IPA: [tʃuˈβut]) is a province in southern Argentina, situated between the 42nd parallel south (the border with Río Negro Province), the 46th parallel south (bordering Santa Cruz Province), the Andes range to the west, and the Atlantic ocean to the east. The province's name derives from the Tehuelche word chupat, meaning "transparent," their description of the Chubut River.

Very impressive statue, dedicated to native indian who helped the first Welsh settlers, there is a story of Ann Humphreys who on landing presented her newborn child to the Indians to hold , as a sign of friendship who had come down to the beach to see the settlers

Apart from seeing this at Port Madryn to celebrate the arrival of the Welsh n the Mimosa from Liverpool UK in 1865 we went to the Welsh towns Gaiman & Trelew which were fascinating
