Wonderful town with winding streets with no traffic. The town is friendly with shops and restaurants and outstanding view of the little valley around the hill. The is a great spot not over run with crowds.

The center of Altamura is relatively small and is entirely reserved for pedestrians. It has undergone many waves of conquest and domination, by various European and North African cultures.
