Paradise Creek Nature Park

I had this park on my list of places to visit and so glad I found it. Not cheap since I had to pay a couple of tolls to get there but worth the journey. Several trails to choose from but all in a loop around the water. Excellent signage for plants and the history of the establishment of the area. Promising to know that so many individuals and businesses care about our waterways and the animals. The wood plant is noisy but knowing that the businesses are working in harmony with nature makes it less distracting. I almost missed the “earth mound” and the higher elevation for the improved view. Impressed that someone was there on Christmas digging up invasive plants. Thanks for your efforts! Definitely want to return to use the kayak ramp in the spring.

A wonderful place to visit to see and read about the history of the US Navy Dockyard and the role it has played in the history of the US. The wonderful ferry ride from the Norfolk Waterside sets the stage perfectly for a visit to the museum. Located a short distance from the ferry, where you are close up to the present day dockyard, this is a wonderful museum to visit and enjoy and learn the rich history of this important dockyard. Staff are very helpfu too.

Portsmouth City Park

Reviewed By C2320CScynthiab

Portsmouth, VA doesn't get a lot of reviews or high praise. But if you find yourself in the area visiting friends or family, take a short trip over to Portsmouth City Park. The park is small but quaint and family friendly. It is well maintained and clean, with the added bonus of a golf course, fenced in tennis court, boat launch, playground, and Sheltered picnic areas, on the Eastern Branch of the Elizabeth River. The entrance is hidden by an age-old cemetery, but be surprised by the peaceful reflection of the park when you get there.
