Port Antonio is the capital of the parish of Portland on the northeastern coast of Jamaica, about 60 miles (100 km) from Kingston. It had a population of 12,285 in 1982 and 13,246 in 1991. It is the island's third largest port, famous as a shipping point for bananas and coconuts, as well as one of its most important tourist attractions, tourism being a major contributor to the town’s economy.

Reach Falls are beautiful and its so much fun climbing up them. Our guide book says its strenuous, its not, but you do need beach shoes as the rocks can be tricky. Our guide was great though and even carried our camera, so there are some hilarious pictures of us scrambling through Waterfalls and swimming in the crystal water.

Sometimes our holidays are too hectic as we arent the sort who do resorts, so inject ourselves with some much needed heavy duty relaxation we booked up with Steve, who rafted us 8 miles down the Rio Grande, expert rafting skills. We had some gorgeous swims along the way and stopped off for a bit of delicious Jerk Chick nicely cooked by Miss Belinda. Steve organized our Taxi to pick us up from Hotel and then pick us up again at St Margaret bay at the end of the river. Magic time

I visit Frenchman's Cove with a conference, where all group members are made to feel welcome. Some stay at the Great House for direct access to breakfast and our meeting area, some stay in villas with stunning ocean views. For some guests, it would be very helpful to have a golf cart or two to get around. The staff members are very responsive and help our guests navigate the local area. The grounds are maintained beautifully and have informative signs about trees and vegetation.

first the road has been fixed which is a HUGE plus. despite being a relatively windy day the sea was calm and the water clear. area was relatively clean though at the back they could use some better garbage disposal methods. had excellent fish and bammy, However the price was very steep. Be sure to settle the price of meals BEFORE they start cooking. Generally a great day. One of the few FREE public Beaches left in Portland.

If you must go to one place in Portland Jamaica, let it be blue lagoon. Getting there from Kingston was a breeze it cost about $500 by country from halfway tree. Once in Port Antonio you can take a regular taxi and they could drop you there . Once there you will be beset upon by men offering tour guide rates. The boat ride was cheaper than rafting but cost can be between $4000 -$6000,
The tour was well worth it as we saw the luxury homes there up close, visited monkey island.
After swimming on the beach you will be directed to a natural spring pool where you can wash off and cool out. To me this was the best part of the trip
Caution: I dont advise visiting there when it rains as that when the eel come out. Yes I said Eels.

We were staying at Great Huts and soon realized we could swim to the beach, so not worth paying the entry fee. The beach is small, not really clean and the facilities were all closed when we were there. Good for surging not so much for swimming

Lovely, clean and well maintained public marina, great place to walk in for lunch or a snack. They have a beautiful pool for boaters, as well as clean, modern showers and bathrooms.

It was well worth the 3 hour drive from Runaway Bay. It was my friends' first time in Jamaica. Being from Jamaica myself, I had been there and needed them to experience it. The ride there was beautiful, we stopped and ate.. immersed ourselves in the culture of the locals. Ate what they ate, where they ate and chilled where they chilled ... in passing of course. But Somerset Falls was a great reward at the end of the journey. Please see photos attached. I have videos as well at some point I'll add them.

Boston Jerk Center is an organic, literally home grown, natural mall focused around jerk cooking. It is focused around 7 jerk pits, but jerk, and associated foods, are not the only items for sale there. Fresh fruit juices, or even just fruit, and jewelry are part of the mix, and there's even a resident DJ, DJ Sheppy with his musical shack.

Even Jamaicans from all over the island come to this East Coast Jamaica jerk center. The pork and chicken jerk was good, but the roast breadfruit was extra scrumptious. Steamed fish and lobsters were also available.This is not a restaurant row with linen napkins and tuxedoed waiters, but there are 6 or 8 different jerk stands and people have their favorite. It is not cheap and is usually purchased by the pound, but is a beach experience that travellers in the area should try once.
