Cooper Vineyards

Cooper Vineyards is one of the best vineyards in Amador County, and their patriarch, Dick Cooper is famous in the area for his amazing grapes. This is a family-owned and operated place and it is likely you will run into someone from the Cooper family during your tasting. Their Italian and Rhone style wines are absolutely delicious, and their Dicembre port-style dessert wine is one of our favorites. They have great wines for every price range - if you want a real treat, splurge on the Sangiobello or Anniversary. Cooper also gives back to the community with lots of charity events and their wine club events are some of the most popular in the area.

They make a Sparkling Wine here that is pretty good. Good enough to buy a few bottles anyway. Their long tasting room and bar also displays their many awards from the State Fair in Sacramento and other spotlight events. We just like to go outside and look at the magnificent mountains, some miles away.

Terra d'Oro Winery

This fabulous winery reopened last week, by reservation only amid covid 19, and did it right! All employees in masks, guests in masks except when tasting. Plexiglass shields, a new glass used for each and every taste. Only four tasters allowed inside at a given hour. Outside, under the spacious covered patio, black table clothes were laid before outdoor tasting or picnicking began. The staff was superb as always. Thank you Stacy, Irene, Riley, and Lindsay for making our day at Terra d’ Oro a memorable during this pandemic.

Great wine (Naughty Bawdy is my favorite), wonderful bubbly (yummy Sparkling Almond), friendly employees (Haley is so kind), and beautiful tasting room (feels like an old country French cottage) and beautiful scenery (gorgeous vineyards in the back). What's more to love?!?!

Amador Cellars

Amador Cellars is a family owned and operated winery that produces a number of different wines including Zinfandel, Italian and Rhone varieties. We are quality driven and passionate about the grapes that we grow and the wines that we make. Our tasting room sits on a knoll overlooking our vineyards and is actually inside of our straw bale constructed winery. Our goal is to give the taster a wonderful experience and to make wines that are not only enjoyable but memorable.

Amador Cellars is a gem. Family owned and operated, producing about 4000 cases per year, the handcrafted wines have won many awards. My favorite was the Syrah from our tasting, that featured excellent fruit, complexity, and a long finish. WE rated the wine a 93, which it richly deserves.

This was our first visit to this winery. One note, be sure to look for their sign on Steiner road - google will take you past the turn off. They have set up out side in a very nice covered location. The big cat greats everyone. We were very pleased with their wines. The have a good selection of wines to taste and we enjoyed them all. Would definitely come back again.
