This is a refuge for tigers and other exotic cats.

I went on the Twilight Tour with my Mom and sister. We got a short safety and general information talk before starting. Our guide was a wealth of information. She knew the history each animal and information about the breeds. The carnivore are well cared for and have plenty of room to play. We got to see and hear many of the cats.
Keep in mind it is a walking tour. Takes about 1 1/2 hours and there are no bathrooms once you are on the trails.Trails are gravel and some have a little incline. My Mom, who is 87, took her time walking and had no problems.
The bathrooms are located in the gift shop where you check in. Tours are by reservation only. Part of the reservation money go to support the cats.
We had an amazing time. I look forward to going agai.n

Fearrington Village

This former 18th-century farm is now an upscale complex including fine shops, a market, a luxury inn and a gourmet restaurant.

I remember when they first opened Fearrington Village . Loved the bakery, bookstore, pottery, etc. I realize this was 30 yrs. ago, but I wish it had remained as charming or interesting. The bookstore is still wonderful, but everything has else has changed in time, and not for the better. What was once a interesting creative shopping spot Is now boring and expensive.

Great spot for genuine local art....nothing made in China. The owner takes great pride in presenting a shop dedicated to art in all forms. Local pottery, hand crafted jewelry, exceptional turned wood pieces and wall art art to be found with a wide range of quality and prices. The shop may seem a bit over stocked with pieces from over 100 artists.

Was quite pleased to be given a tasting by the winemaker, who was friendly and knowledgeable and eager to talk the science of winemaking a bit. Lots of interesting options, including a white merlot and a few rose wines. Definitely some good wines here, and lots of variety - something to please everyone! Definitely not to be missed! I believe we paid $7 to taste 7 wines, and got to keep our glasses. You could also taste all of their options for a few extra dollars.

Lower Haw River State Natural Area

The parking area is next to the bridge on 15-501 (between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro). The Haw River is a popular spot for canoeists and hikers. The nature area covers around 1000 acres including both sides of the river so there are plenty of trails to be walked. They offer trails above and below the dam. Some of the trails along the river are very worn so watch your step and others have lots of rocks exposed.

I wish I could give it more stars. For those familiar with Pittsboro, Screaming for Vintage is in the old Beggars and Choosers building. This place is amazing if you love mid-century modern and the two ladies who own the place are as nice as can be. Even if you aren't a mid-century fan, still check it out because they have other types of antiques/collectibles too.

Sign on the road for 50% off attracted us to the shop. There was a large selection of utilitarian pottery with plates, bowls, pie plates ect. The prices were good so the 50% off made the deals that much better. The curator had different deals every two months so the selection of pottery changes periodically. The choices were excellent.

Located on the ground floor of the historical Pittsboro Courthouse in the center of town, the Chatham Historical Museum offers a small but interesting journey into the history of Chatham County. A caretaker is usually on duty and can give you a tour with insight into the displays... They will also give you a look at the courthouse itself. If you are visiting the downtown area (Wed - Fri) take a break and spend 30-60 minutes at the museum. It's worth a look.
