Avani Kumaon

Avani produces and sells different kind of products which are environmental friendly and natural. At present we have four product lines which are: Textiles (wool, wool/silk, pure silk, linen):naturally dyed handspun shawls, stoles, mufflers, jackets and saris. Natural Dyes (dye powder, extract, pigment); Art Supplies (crayons, watercolors); Lifestyle Products (soapnut powder, organic kumkum).

I heard about Avani before visiting Kumaon last december, and had a plan to vsit the same. Avani is placed a few kilometers outside of Berinag town, enroute Pataal Bhuvaneswar. We were travelling in a Sunday, so the shop was closed. However they were kind enough to let us visit the shop. The collections were absolutely pure and natural, and the interaction with local village women, who themselves create these products can be an eye opener. The place kind of reminds me of the workshops in Shantiniketan in West Bengal, where similar cottage industry initiatives have taken place, and you could interact with the craftsman and buy directly from them. Garjia Devi Temple

Reviewed By IndianGhummakad - Bengaluru, India

I have been Garjiya Temple 3-4 Times and found it is one of the full of Devine energy temple Among other temples in Uttrakhand. Location is the main factor it is just stand middle of the River Kosi on a Rock which looks like a small ????Mountain itself. I am blessed to be there whenever I visited. During Navratras and other Religious months like Shravan there will huge crowd from entire country even some of international visitor too. Temple located on such a Beautiful location which attracts other tourists too rather than devotees. Sharp stairs are there to reach on the top and while going upstairs people believes that the Grass you can touch here and there if you make a wish and knot this grass layers, your wish will be fulfilled for sure and you have open that knot when it gets fulfilled. It is Just 12 Kms from Ramnagar and 2Kms from Dhikuli (Where all the Good Hotels are) Dhikuli is the village where all the good hotels are. Avoid Sweeming during rainy season it can be huge dangerous for you even it can cost your life too. So be away from river during rainy season otherwise you can enjoy a dip of cold water in other Season. Mine was amazing experience hope your will be too.

Kalamuni Temple

Reviewed By kakaanirban

Visited this place while travelling from Chaukori to Munsyari. The road from Chaukori to Munsyari is pretty interesting. Till Birthi falls its a road passing along the banks of ramganga river, but after Birthi the road suddenly winds its way uphill and gains height considerably. At almost 9000 ft Kalamuni pass/top is the highest point in this route. We started early enough, almost at 8 a.m from Chaukori and apart from a 20 minutes break in Birthi drove non stop. By 11.30 we reached Kalamuni Top. From almost a kilometer before the top we could see snow laden along the road, and in Kalamuni top, we saw the entire area covered in thick blanket of snow. The small plain land which is there on the top, was fully covered, and against a clear blue winter sky we could see Mt Panchachulli, Mt Hansling in their full glory. Kalamuni top provides a tantalizingly close view of both of them. Munsiyari is another 10 km from the top, mostly downhill. However the best views are from Kalamuni. to know more about my winter trip search google with ramblersnaps + Kalamuni
