Archaeological Museum of Piraeus

Reviewed By permia

It was absorbing moving around the splendid array of artefacts from antiquity. Funerary stelae and sculptures abound and reflect the reverence accorded to this seminal life event. Many stone reliefs are to be seen. A Greek pursuing a wounded Amazon who's bearing a shield is cogent, as are those of a Priest and Priestess in ritual attitude and the narrative of a Dispute between Apollo and Herakles. Herakles with a quadriga of chariot pulled by four horses is wonderful. That portraying three nymphs in motion is another highlight. The Piraeus Apollo in bronze is a prized sculpture and is the earliest known life-size depiction dating from around 525 BCE. It is accompanied with slightly later fine bronzes of Athena and Artemis.

Saint Nicholas is the most beautiful church of the Piraeus port. It stands out with its blue dome near the cruise ships terminal and it's certainly worth visiting.

Ieros Naos Agia Triada

Reviewed By HebaEssam - Athens, Greece

The amazing church is opposite to the Bank of Greece. While you are on the staircase of the church, you will find mighty Byzantine pillars that confronts the particular Corinthian and Doric ones in the façade of the bank .. This entourage embraces the history of Greece. Located very close from the port of Piraeus, the Metropolis holy church of Agia Triada survived the bombardment of 11 January 1944. It is beautifully constructed on the luxurious Byzantine fashion and it has very special icons of the saints (Katarina and Dimitris are my favourite), chandeliers and ceiling paintings. I highly recommend.

Blue Star Ferries

I've used Blue Star Ferries in many ferry travel occasions in the past and will definitely be using them again. Their ships are fast, spacious and clean. Traveling by ferry to the Greek islands is in general a great experience, also due to the fact that Greek passenger shipping is at a very high level!

Hellenic Seaways

Reviewed By robertaX5059FE - Azle, United States

We usually take Bluestar to and from Naxos but this time we couldnt get the cabin we wanted on the Delos on the return trip. We opted for the VIP seating as one trip we took seajets and their ships are well worn... The VIP seating on high speed 4 is up stairs and it is nice and has a large balcony to the stern which is nice. Very comfortable seats which are ata table. If we were to take the ship again we would get seats in the business class section which is smaller, cheaper and it is at the front of the ship so you can see where you are going. Overall a great ferry ride but the price of the VIP seats is a little high for not getting any more than business and also the VIP seats cost more than getting a cabin for 2 on Bluestar.
