Crossing the Somme bay with a naturalist guide, explaining all you want to know about birds, common and grey seals, fauna, flora and landscape, is a fantastic experience. Don not forget to use boots to cross the Somme bay. It's muddy... Furthermore, you have to keep in mind that crossing the Somme bay alone is very dangerous, as you can get trapped quickly by incoming tide and be stuck in the mud.

Parc du Marquenterre

A fantastic few fours at this park walking the trails and stopping at the numerous hides to watch the birds, waterfowl and various animals. We're not bird watchers, but found it fascinating observing them going about their daily business! several walking trails, all clearly marked out and mostly flat and easy. We did the longest one, the red trail at 6km which took about 2.5 hours because we stopped at all 13 hides to use our binoculars (you can rent them here...) and to take photos. There's a café, more of a restaurant really, a shop, toilets, large picnic areas and plenty of parking. Admittance was around 10 euros each which we thought very good value. A great half day out!
