Phang Nga Elephant Park

The Phang Nga Elephant Park is a small family-run park. Our family has cared for elephants for over 150 years and we opened the park in 2015 so that we could keep our elephants in a caring and stress-free environment and give our visitors an extraordinary and life-enhancing experience. We are dedicated to providing our elephants with the highest quality of life possible and our strong belief in human-elephant interaction is what makes the Phang Nga Elephant Park so special.

This was a truly magical experience. Jake is very caring and shows dedication and compassion with maintaining an ethical elephant sanctuary, that has been with their family for over 150 years. All the staff were very attentive, and Jake had a lot of patience with the hundreds of questions our kids asked, taking the time to answer each one. Being able to experience elephants so close was an absolute highlight of our Thailand holiday. Also great lunch in a fantastic location. Would love to return one day, many thanks to Jake and the team.

Phang Nga Bay.

Phang Nga is famous for spectacular scenery with limestone cliffs rising out of green water. There are caves, lagoons and tiny secluded beaches awaiting discovery.

Phanga Nga Bay is a visual treat for all your senses. A boat trip through the waters to various islands in this Bay is a must do activity. I did a big-boat tour through BJ Canoe agency and they take you to various islands like James Bond island, Hong Island, Panak island etc. Kayaking through the shallow waters of this bay is an memorable experience. Though it's a typical touristy route, it's still a great experience to witness the islands and the magnificent limestone rocks emerging out of the sea.

LOVED Koh Kho Khao Island - quiet, relaxing - good swimming beaches - I stayed at DreamZ Ocean Pearl Resort - it has recently re-opened (December 2018) and I got a great deal. So good to get our of the madness of Patong and just chill out - I did nothing, other than swim and sunbake - exactly what I was looking for. Mama's restaurant, up the beach from the resort is definately worth walking along the beach to - beautiful family and great food - Pirates Bar, at Dreamz Ocean Pearl resort is excellent - brilliant staff, great nightly BBQ and the owner Ko, is very entertaining. Definately will be visiting again:)

Great show! I recommend this show as something to do in the late evening in Khao Lak. Tickets are 300THB and you get a free drink in that price. Show starts at 9.45pm. You can reserve your seats on the day and pay for your tickets on arrival. No smoking inside but the show only goes for 1hr. The staff are so friendly and accommodating and the drink prices are reasonable too. The performers put on a great show, the costumes and make up are perfect. Before and after the show you can take pictures out the front with the performers and you are allowed to film or take pictures during the show. Well worth going to for a fun night out that won’t break the bank! Must see!

We had a great morning here. We started at the main entrance closest to Khao Lak. A brief stop a the first beach and at the restaurant. Beach nice restaurant not too good. Then a good trek to the small sandy beach. This took us nearly 2 hours. The track is a bit rough and I'm glad we wore sturdy shoes. We were quite hot and very glad to arrive at the beach. It's beautiful and not too busy. There is a shower and toilet also a shop for drinks. The track back from the beach to the main road is only 10 minutes easy path. That must be the way the little children arrived :)

Ton Chong Fa Waterfall

Reviewed By Moiwouam - Shanghai, China

Amazing! It is a unique experience to swim (or just put your feet into the fresh water if you are afraid of cold) amongst the fishes eating your dead skin. Whatever you like the feeling or not, it is definitely something to try! The waterfalls were good enough, with still plenty of water in December. We spent 3 hours there as we swam a lot, 2 hours would be enough if you just walk and bath your feet. Note that one person in our group got a leech (apparently from the ground, not from the water), but we removed it easily. There was not a single mosquito which was a very good surprise for this kind of wet forest. As many people advised, take good shoes, the path after the level 1 is quite difficult, but I would still recommend the visit even if you just stop there.

International Tsunami Museum

Ok, so if like me you’ve been to “conventional” museums, this is not what you’ll expect. It’s sad perhaps that it isn’t afforded the same stature as other memorials for what was such a terrible event. However, if you do as I did; stand with the police boat at your back and look in the direction of the sea, look on a map and see how far inland it travelled, picture it’s size and weight and imagine the absolute destruction it caused enroute to its final resting place. That did it for me. The “museum” is a collection of photos and videos. Having visited the Twin Towers memorial, which was incredible, it’s worth considering that almost 3 times the amount of people lost their lives at Khao Lak. It deserves better.
