We live here and have never visited. We took our parents thinking they would like the historical part of the tour - and THEY LOVED IT. But although we thought we would like it, we had no idea how much we would love it too! It was one of the best things we have done in a long time. It's NOT just a museum as you think of it. It has the best and most interesting pieces of history on display and the owner who gives you the tour is incredibly knowledgeable about the things you really care about. He fully researched who first owned it, and how they used it. Typically there are pictures from the original owners and inventors. And he knows the details of how it works and nitty-gritty facts that we really liked to know about. We spent 2 1/2 hours and it felt like 1 hour. Normally I would get bored but this was unlike any other museum I have visited. It's impossible to explain how great it is, so just go and check it out! It's by donation, and we left a big donation, because it was so darn awesome. You have to make an appointment and they close for the winter, but check it out in the spring/summer for sure. I am so grateful to the owners who have obviously put so much effort into making this a great experience. Thank you so very, very much!!!! It's not just cars (or horseless carriages) either. There are many other turn of the century inventions such as talking machines, knitting machines, bicycles, etc.

For my wife's birthday, I brought her to Lift Lock Escape with her family. We chose the outdoor Escape Adventure and were so glad we did! It was a fantastic experience! We received a great refresher course on the history of Peterborough as we solved various clues. We noted sites here in our hometown that we had not ever noticed previously despite having lived here for most of our lives. The route was varied, the length of it just enough. The puzzles themselves were difficult to challenge us, yet not so difficult that we thought of giving up. The creator of this Escape Room was very friendly, incredibly helpful, even providing reading glasses (we had forgotten ours) and a mask as well as one of our family members had forgotten theirs. We all highly recommend Lift Lock Escape as a fun, adventurous inexpensive and fulfilling way to spend an afternoon.

The Gut Conservation Area

On the way there, Google Maps and Waze will say “You have arrived.” And you will see a sign for the conservation area. So you keep driving looking for a parking lot. But you will realize that you have gone too far, so you will head back. On the way back, you will see the back of the sign with an arrow pointing across the street. There is a sign on that “street” that says “Private Road” but that is the road to get to the parking area. This road is more for SUVs or off road vehicles. Trust me. At the “end” is a little clearing that is good for maybe 10 vehicles. Then you make your way down to the gorge. You can picnic and have a dip on the waters before the gorge. I suggest going on a dry day in the summer time as I have heard the rocks could get slippery. In retrospect I wish I had taken pics of the signs had I thought of writing this review then. Overall, a fun trip and beautiful hidden gem. *not for those who have mobility issues.

Great time out. My daughter booked this for my birthday outing. Even tho there was snow on the ground, and the weather was chilly, we had a blast. We did the Gold Rush maze, and found it just hard enough, and easy enough, that my grandson could help with the puzzles. Our family had a mid afternoon booking and we finished just as the sun was going down which for me added to the adventure. Would definitely recommend for a family day out, or a birthday with the kids. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and a pleasure to chat with. Be sure to dress for the weather and woods tho. We plan on heading back up in the new year to try another adventure since this one was so amazing.
