Historic St. Mary's Catholic Church

Reviewed By kghudson - Houston, United States

Walked to St. Mary's from the Central Market to see one of the oldest Catholic churches standing on its original sight. Church was open and getting ready for daily mass when we got there about 11:00. Beautiful stained glass, awe inspiring altar and a quiet and reverent church. We try to visit Catholic churches on our visits and St. Mary's was impressive and memorable. Beautiful, Holy spot!!

In these unique times we were blessed to be able to livestream Holy Week services. Many Thanks to Father Hahn and Father Logue. We were able to Keep The Faith at home. Peace.

St. Joseph's Church

When I see that there is a Mass in Latin available, I often go. It's not that I am old fashioned. I just like the ceremony and the beauty of a Latin Mass. St.Joseph's is an historic church that has such a Mass: From Asperges to the Ite Missa Est. I know the chants for the common parts of the Mass, and was ready to lend my baritone to the chants. However, most of the congregation preferred not to sing. Nonetheless, the choir was very good. I'd recommend this Church for its beautiful liturgy

San Juan Bautista Catholic Church

Reviewed By patrickmcsherry - Conestoga, United States

We attended Mass at the church. It was wonderful! The people were welcoming, the priest wonderful and the music was absolutely fantastic! This is an Hispanic church, so the Mass was conducted in with portions in English and portions in Spanish. I do not speak Spanish, but had no trouble following along. I cannot say enough about the music and the musicians. The hymns were done wonderfully. The music was performed in the Latin style and with great instrumentation. The church is not flashy, but very warm, with nice woodwork, and splashes of stained glass. We like our usual church very much, but we want to start attending here also. If you looking for a church to attend in the area, try this one.
