It looks awful, it might put you off entering but please take the plunge. The food is served at a dozen or so different outlets...some savoury, some sweet, some just juices...fresh juices of every kind. Make your choice, place your order and it’ll be brought straight to you freshly cooked. The chicken satay was fabulous and the prawn & noodles was sublime...and all for between 8-15 Ringgits. We keep going back. I recommend it. Just across the road from Copthorne Orchid.

Ayer Itam Market

Very crowded during morning especially on weekends, a lot of locals over here to purchase their daily needs. Very packed actually but most people doesn't really care whether you are a tourist just to see and explore the market. Around the market, you can find a lot of food sellers too, which you need to experience the local breakfast culture there. There is one famous laksa stall in this market but it is only open around 10 or 11am so if your main goal is for the Laksa, you don't need to visit here on the very early morning unless you can kill your time by explore the surrounding of this market which is close to Penang Hill and also the Kek Lok Si Temple.

This was just outside our hotel. We walked every night and explored the market and ate food. Very easy to navigate. Only thing is you end up walking on the road as the stalls are on the pavement. Loved it
