The week after a bunch of public holidays in winter is probably a good time to visit somewhere like Pals. The maze of cobbled streets were almost deserted, and everything except the church was closed (and we only just managed to get in there before someone came to lock it). It feels very untouched by the modern world, and we easily spent two hours exploring all the little alleyways and staircases. Living in NZ, historical stuff is what we miss, and Pals gave it to us in spades.

Beautiful Medieval City with amazing architecture. We loved exploring the city and checking out some of the local shops and restaurants. We spent about two hours walking around and taking pictures of doors and arches and gorgeous homes and buildings. Very fascinating place and well worth the drive. Great short trip if your staying in Girona

One of the most beautiful Beaches @ the Costa Brava. Little town, beautiful sunset, little shops. Don't go to the restaurants, they look nice but they're expensive and food isn't great. Go early because finding parking is a full time job. Oh, don't forget your camera.

Every morning the local authority workers clean and rake the beach removing all rubbish and rocks. The Promenade is swept and hosed down. By breakfast time the whole area is spotless. They are to be congratulated for keeping this lovely spot so beautiful

A vineyard in the heart of the costa brava which offers 4 good wines, though they are pricey. The location is delightful & the shop also sells their own olive oils. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

As we walked the lanes of this small village a passerby told us to visit the museum which was just up the road from where we were in Carrer Extramurs. Although it was early Sunday evening and out of high season the premises were open but abandoned. We were able to inspect the exhibits at whim and wander where we wanted. At home doing something like that would be tantamount to giving all the exhibits away! As the name implies the collection centres on rural life in this area from years gone by. Lots of farm equipment, explanations of how things were done and pictures of people doing them.
Incredibly entrance is free and yes much is very dusty and looks as if it hasn't moved in years but on a much more positive note someone has spent an extraordinary amount of time collecting the artefacts and producing explanatory labelling albeit in Spanish.
I applaud the time and effort that has gone into keeping this museum open and strongly recommend anyone visiting the area to pop in. When open the museum shop seems to sell lots of local produce and goodies which we could only gaze at through the window.
We wrote a note of gratitude in their visitors booked, quietly closed the door behind us and left!

Calella and Port Bo are small with soft sand and amenities close by. Showers and WC's are on or near the beach. With the right conditions, the waters are crystal-clear and great for snorkelers.
Similarly, Llafranc has everything but in greater quantities. More restaurants, shops and a wide, safe beach with rocks to attract fish at either end. Sun-loungers and parasols are available there too.

Went on a snorkelling trip with Triton with our two children (11&8) and really enjoyed the afternoon. After collecting flippers, masks and snorkels, it was a short walk down to the harbour. We then took a boat down the coast to some small rocky Islands. The water was very clear and not too cold and we saw lots of different fish and a couple of jellyfish. All had a lovely time. We met at 3pm and got back about 5pm with approx 1 hr snorkelling.
