What to do and see in Palais-Royal, Ile-de-France: The Best Points of Interest & Landmarks

August 5, 2021 Randal Brittian

Lingering over pain au chocolat in a sidewalk café, relaxing after a day of strolling along the Seine and marveling at icons like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe… the perfect Paris experience combines leisure and liveliness with enough time to savor both an exquisite meal and exhibits at the Louvre. Awaken your spirit at Notre Dame, bargain hunt at the Marché aux Puces de Montreuil or for goodies at the Marché Biologique Raspail, then cap it all off with a risqué show at the Moulin Rouge.

Domaine National du Palais-Royal

This royal palace, first home to Cardinal Richelieu and later a childhood home of Louis XIV, is longer open to the public, although its exquisite gardens can still be enjoyed.

Once a royal palace now the amazing spot to enjoy some relaxing time, since it's much less crowded than places nearby.

Station Palais Royal Musee du Louvre - Kiosque des Noctambules

Reviewed By JnVSydney - Greater Sydney, Australia

This entrance to the metro is known as “Kiosque des Noctambules”. The first time we saw it looked like candy canes, on closer inspection, and a bit of research, they are Murano Coloured Glass, which makes it quite stunning. Definitely worth a look when in the area.

La Fontaine Moliere

Reviewed By JnVSydney - Greater Sydney, Australia

The bronze statue of Moliere, (a french playwright) is quite impressive in its own right, however, the structure that envelopes him, is massive, about six stories. The base is a fountain, with water trickling out of lion heads, on ether side of him is two marble female statues, holding scrolls, of his works, one representing light comedy, whilst the other serious comedy, he is next seating in a niche surrounded by columns, finished with an ornate pediment. Paris really doe know how to do its monumental structures.

Place des Pyramides

Reviewed By 750dimitrisl - Sydney, Australia

Place des Pyramides is the Square outside the entrance to the Louvre Museum. It is quite a busy area. There are a couple of Glass Pyramids one of which is much larger than the other, and forms part of the entrance to the museum. The name owes its origin to the fact that it honours Napoleon Bonaparte's victory at the Battle of the Pyramids in Egypt, in 1798.
