After visiting Betab Valley we decided to visit this holy place. This is a place where people start their journey for Amarnath Yatra. This is also a base camp and good setup for Amarnath pilgrims. The place has a very beautiful river flowing by the side, and with mountain all around you. There are also some small shops and food stall selling souvenirs, photos of lord shiva, key chains, pendent and others small mementos, that you can buy it for gift purpose.

Tulian Lake

Reviewed By shritimerchant - Mumbai, India

The pictures of the lake looked beautiful from a previous visit by my cousins and thus our group decided that we must go. The best way to go to Baisaran and Tulian lake is by pony as cars don’t go there, or one can hike/ trek, but located around 11,000 ft above Pahalgam, it is a fairly tough day hike. I wasn’t feeling well so I didn’t go, but my groups said that it’s a really beautiful lake situated between huge Mountains and the scenery is gorgeous

Mamaleshwar Temple

Mamleshwar is considered to be an ancient temple that probably dates back to 400 AD. It is located at just a mile away from Pahalgam town. This temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and stands across the Kolahoi stream up towards the mountain. According to legend, this is the temple where Ganesha was placed as door keeper not to allow anyone to enter the temple without his permission. Mam Mal means don't go, and thus it is also known as Mammal temple. Tourists from across the world throng the temple during their holidays in Pahalgam.

Our cab driver gave this temple a miss despite this being on our Tour Itinerary. He said, it is closed and not safe, such excuses. Please double-check, many times, they will cheat us, as we might not know the exact thing. However, we came here with few local friends and temple is very ancient and has historical significance.

Sheshnag Lake

Reviewed By BongBlogger - Kolkata (Calcutta), India

I think one of the best place in the earth. I went there during my Amarnath Yatra this year. To explain the secret of Life and immortality Lord Shiva chose Amarnath Cave. He took Goddess Parvati as his companion and when he traveled to the cave. He went through the Pahalgam Chandanwari route. It is believed that during his journey he gave up everything one by one. When he reached Sheshnag he released his another companion Vasuki (Lord Shiva's Snake) from around his neck. If someone notices the mountain situated just opposite side of the Holy cave, the summit looks just like a snake head. It is believed that Vasuki is still standing there.

Wildfun Adventure Tours and Travels

Reviewed By JL94

I used Wildfun Adventures to organise a 5 day trek to the 3 lakes around Pahalgam (Tarsar, Tulian and Sheshang lake). It was an extraordinary experience, some of the most beautiful trekking available this side of Nepal. What made the experience so enjoyable, along with the scenery, was having such a professional and competent guide in Mehraj, the chief operator and owner of the Wildfun Adventures. He explained everything and laid out all my options very clearly, and at a very good price without being at all pushy. I opted for the solo guided tour (just me and him, carrying all our own equipment, most of which can be rented from him) as it was a bit cheaper, but you can also get group guides (2/3 guides and horses carrying equipment). The three lakes trek was perfect for me because it was quite short at 5 days and I'd heard it was very beautiful (understatement), but there were many other treks available, from short day trips to epic 2 week treks to Leh and elsewhere. Mehraj also runs the guest house out of which Wildfun Adventures operates- it's very clean and cosy, with a river running just outside and beautiful views, a couple of nights there can be included in the price for trekking. I would recommend Wildfun Adventures to anyone going trekking in the Kashmir region, Mehraj's expertise and professionalism made it the perfect trip.
