What to do and see in Oregon Coast, Oregon Coast: The Best Fun Activities & Games

April 17, 2022 Lean Nau

The Southern Oregon coast is home to isolated beaches, rugged cliffs with breathtaking views of the Pacific and quaint seaside towns. If you stay in the Bay Area, go whale watching at Coos Bay or explore the region on a bike or a hike along the coastline. Antique shoppers will want to explore old town Bandon while golfers hit the links at the world-renowned Bandon Dunes golf course. And don’t forget to bring your fishing gear – you’ll want to cast for salmon and other Pacific Northwest fish at Gold Beach, one of the region’s top fishing spots.

The Central Oregon Coast is a great place for fishing, clamming, hiking, golfing and other outdoor activities. Take the kids and visit the Sea Lion Caves near Florence, the world’s largest. Head up to Newport for a view of the state’s second-tallest lighthouse and shopping in this seaside town popular with vacationers for the last century. Go fly a kite on the beach in Lincoln City, kite capital of the world.

The Northern Oregon Coast offers a relaxing way to enjoy the region. A stay in the scenic town of Astoria on the Washington border will allow you to explore the western edge of the Lewis and Clark trail, with views of the Columbia River and the Pacific. Walk the sandy beaches in Seaside and Cannon Beach and then grab saltwater taffy and other treats while shopping these seaside towns.

This is a cute little theater on Highway 101 in Lincoln city. The owners greeted us and made us feel right at home. We got to watch a great movie in a comfortable little theater. It was like going back 50 years in time when I was a kid. Just loved it.

Escape Rooms Newport

An escape room is a fully immersive live adventure game in which players of all ages can attempt to solve a series of puzzles and other challenges using clues, hints and strategy to complete the objectives at hand. Players are given a set time limit to unveil the secret plot which is hidden within the room. If you can accomplish this then you escape the room...Can you escape the room?

Reviewed By washington_wahine - Seattle, United States

Our family has done escape rooms throughout the West Coast. Some are better, some are worse. This one is a definite do. We went along with our Covid cohort, 4 of whom had not done escape rooms in the past and tbh were downright leery of the whole concept. The first one we did, the escape from jail, took teamwork and problem solving skills of many types. They enjoyed it so much that we did a more difficult one the next day, the pirate one, which we found inventive, rewarding, and challenging. Both we escaped from within the allotted time, but needed a hint or two to do so. What made these rooms great were the quality puzzles (everything worked ) and the different types of problem solving involved (everyone participated). The owner kept close tabs so that if we needed help he was immediately there and knew what the issue was. The rooms were clean and there was only one group allowed at a time. The pirate room was one of the top 3 we have ever done. Highly recommend.

Only $10 for all day gaming pass! Only a 5 minute walk from Old Town! This place has arcade games, VR games, console games and 2 basketball hoop games. My boyfriend and I stopped in for an hour before dinner and it was so fun to play games like we were kids and talk with the folks there. The owners are incredible and the venue is sparkling clean. This is well worth the 5 minute walk to have some fun and get out of the rain for a bit.
