Visited this museum for the first time. I have known this museum for long time but did not have chance to visit so far. This time of visit has been a bit of dream come true experience. After spending more than an hour of quality time viewing nice piece of works and learning about Chihiro Iwasaki's life, I became even greater fan of her and her works. I guarantee that her truly a heart warming water paintings mochiefed on children will last in your heart after your visit.
Stands in very nice location at the foot of Northern Japan Alps. Visiting Azumino itself is an absolutely wonderful experience.
Reco to visit.

I found this to be a very interesting place to visit.
First it is designated as a National Treasure.
Secondly the architectural style predates the Buddhist style of architecture which came from China.Nishina Jingu is the oldest extant style of Shinmei, one of three
Architectural styles that existed before Buddhism arrived. This architectural style was conceived in Japan around 1,800 years ago.
This shrine is dedicated to the goddess Amaterasu and is evident on how the cross members at the end of the roof is cut horizontal to the ground.
Furthermore as a matter of interest the sloping roof line greets the pilgrim rather than the apex of the conjoining roofs.
The rooflines are built for snow country.
The symmetry of load bearing beams cut out of the Sugi trees is a pleasure to behold.
The grounds are a delight to wander around as the serenity and beauty engulfs your senses, the atmosphere is rich in oxygen and the sound of trickling water is everywhere. Moss is evident everywhere. Some of the majestic Sugi trees are over a thousand years old.
You can buy some food to feed the carp at the Omiyage (gift) shop.

観光バスや久留麻がたくさん停まっておりました。
ちょうど見頃でキレイでした。
色々な葉っぱの色が楽しめて、何度でも見に来たくなるところです。

オススメは冬のイルミネーションです。広大な森の中に素敵なイルミネーションが登場します。音楽と一緒に光の点滅も行われ、なかなか楽しめました。ただ、かなり寒い場所なので防寒は必要です。それと結構歩くので、歩きやすい靴、服装は必須だと思いました。

This place has various names depending on the information source, Trip Advisor calls it Omachi Mountain Museum, the museum itself calls it the Ohmachi Alpine Museum, the street signs call it Sangaku Museum.
If you Google Ohmachi Alpine Museum you will most probably get the info in Japanese characters.
This is a great place to see the display of local wildlife and the history of the Japan Alps. If you're a little lost in what to do with the little ones the Alpine Museum will take care of a couple of hours. You start at the top and make your way down to view the various exhibits. There is a little souvenir shop at the entrance and you get have a snack there if you wish.

今回は扇沢から爺ケ岳を経由して鹿島槍ヶ岳に登る。
扇沢から種池小屋までは4時間の登り、さらに1時間登ると爺ケ岳。
さらに1時間進んで冷池小屋に宿泊。(約6時間)
ここに荷物を置いて、リュックで鹿島槍ヶ岳を往復4時間、扇沢まで5時間(約9時間)
２日間で15時間歩きました！！
これから行かれる方は長時間歩行、転落防止等に注意して登山道を歩いてください。
また、鹿島槍ヶ岳～五竜岳間を歩かれる方は、鎖場や梯子の連続、落石や転落などに注意。
ヘルメット着用、雨天中止の覚悟でお出かけください。

北アルプスの山懐に築かれた石を積み重ねたロックフィルダムです。このダムの斜面上にジグザグに道が作られていて車はそこを登っていきます。しかし残念ながら一般車の乗り入れははるか下流から禁止されています。許可を受けたタクシーに乗るか、徒歩でアクセスしなければいけないのでなかなか見学が容易ではないダムの一つです。

ちょうど紅葉が、見頃でした。
湖に写ってキレイでした。
夏場はホタルが見られるのでボートのツアーに参加するのをオススメします。

１０月下旬に訪れましたが、イチョウとモミジとドウダンツツジが同時に見頃で秋を凝縮して楽しめました。
鐘楼の駐車場付近は、境内を上から見下ろす感じで、大きな木の上部が間近で楽しめます。日当たりが良いので、イチョウやモミジの発色がとても良く撮影スポットのひとつです。
順路に従い境内に降りていくとオハツキイチョウが出迎えてくれます。
境内の中央には、立派な茅葺の山門が位置します。
その奥が本堂ですが、周囲のモミジがとても綺麗です。
また、本堂の裏手に滝と池があります。
暗い池なので鏡のようにモミジを映してくれました。
池の周りはひとが多いので水面が騒がしいですが、じっくり待って撮影すると良いでしょう。
見所満載のお寺でした。
