The Hawaiian island of Oahu is a surfer’s paradise, with swelling waves that can reach epic heights. No wonder, then, that it’s the site of one of the world’s premier competitions, the Triple Crown of Surfing. If hanging ten isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy the beautiful beaches – particularly famous Waikiki Beach in Honolulu. Art connoisseurs will appreciate the annual Hale'iwa Arts Festival, a celebration of local crafts, painting, jewelry, sculpture, dance, and music.

Do not miss this area if your spending more than a day in Honolulu! It’s only 15 minutes by car from Waikiki, 5 minutes from King Kamehameha and Iolani Palace. I travel a lot and I try to find cool start art wherever I go and this is by far one of the best collections I’ve come across! There are just a ton of art pieces in about a 4 block radius in any direction from Mother Waldron neighborhood park. Just park near there and wander around. You won’t regret it!!

Buzzing with vendors, shoppers, business people and tourists, this sliver of Downtown Honolulu is an exciting mix of history, mystery and fun. Amid the lei stands, noodle factories, hole-in-the-wall eateries and herbal medicine shops, the Oahu Market attracts locals recognizing it for savory selections of fresh meats, fish and produce. Remember to frequently look up from the street level while walking around the district since many of the old buildings that were renovated have retained their original façade and completion date on the second story.
We absolutely love Honolulu's Chinatown. We visit a few times a week and find something new every time we go. There are many unique and delicious market stands, shops, and restaurants to explore. Tons of hidden gems all around - as long as you are open and curious to taking in the experience for what it is versus expecting it to fit some touristy / tourist-centric expectation. Chinatown is the real thing and is a community of real people - raw, beautiful, and amazing just as they are. <3 We recommend taking your time walking around and discovering some of the many bakeries, souvenir shops, fruit and veggie stands, fish and meat markets, jewelry shops, boba/bubble tea stands, family-run grocery stores, and more. Fresh, affordable, and unique treats you can't get anywhere else! Chinatown is also the home to Honolulu's oldest bar and tattoo shop. Come check it out and support such a kind and friendly community here in Honolulu!
