Amazing place with fabulous views. Redentore statue is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this place to visit - especially at sunset. If you are sensitive, you will love this place! There is a very strong attractive power!
You can either go by car to the summit of Monte Ortobene, or you can go up on foot. The path leads through the woods and is well signposted.

I was very interested to hear of an exhibition of the recently discovered work of a US street photographer from New York. Unfortunately, the information was out of date and that exhibition had finished last year. Aside from this disappointment the exhibits were well presented and of some interest. €5 entry

We went to see the museum of this famous Sardinian Nobel prize winner. It was quite interesting and later we also went to the church Chiesa della Solitudine in Nuoro to see her tomb.

The Sardinian Ethnographic Museum (Italian: Istituto Etnografico della Sardegna), is an ethnographic museum in Nuoro, Sardinia. Its goal is to display the traditional life of the region. The museum building was built between the 1950s and the 1960s .
The museum exhibits show all aspects of the material culture of the traditional Sardinian including clothes, jewels, weapons, masks, traditional musical instruments, work and domestic tools. The collection includes over 8000 items, most of them belonging to the period between the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.
One pf the most interesting exhibits is about the hundreds types of bread.

On the way to Santa Caterina from Alghero, we had the extremely good fortune to stop in the little and charming village of Tinnura. The town was empty as the residents are mostly farmers and do a reverse commute from those in the States. Sardinians who own farms most often live in a nearby town and go back and forth to their farm from town. Tinnura would not be on the "map" for tourism for any reason, excepting that it is an incredible stop to view some recent murals. (Painting murals in public places is a tradition on Sardinia since the 60's and begun by reknowned sculptor, Pinuccio Sciola) Tinnura might be known as the "village of murals" and the main street has many colourful pictures covering the sides and fronts of houses. Pina Monne, who is the youngest and the only female of a famous group of muralists, lives in Tinnura. We did not see mention of Tinnura in any of the guidebooks on Sardinia we read, so this could well be a hidden "gem" worth looking into.

The Ciusa museum is one of the two main art galleries in Nuoro, and it has an interesting collection of Sardinian art mostly from the early 20th century by artists such as Antonio Ballero and Giovanni Ciusa, topped off by the incredible sculptures of Francesco Ciusa.
My only complaints are that the gallery is quite hard to find, the entrance is just a little door on a side street by the Cathedral, and that all the descriptions are in Italian only which is okay for me as I understand it well but it does make it less accessible for foreign tourists.

Very interesting spot to visit! My host family took me here and I really liked it. Lots of history and the view from the top of the nuraghe is wonderful. There was a man that gave us a little tour in Italian, not sure if they give information in other languages. Worth visiting!

Atmospheric square with one or two bars and restaurants on the perimeter. Obviously staged public Performances with a central stage. Standing local stones in the square add to the atmosphere.

It is just one of the churches you can visit, and although not ornate, is very serene and has a beautiful atmosphere. There is space to sit outside under the cool trees if you want.
