Carapan is a Mexican folk art gallery founded in 1950. Since then, it specializes in museum quality folk art pieces for collectors and enthusiasts. It is located at the core of downtown hotel zone in Monterrey, at a 10 minute drive from San Pedro and only a few blocks away from the Cathedral; the Macro Plaza and the Marco museum of contemporary art. A visit to Carapan is a travel trough Mexico´s most important folk art production centers. During your visit you will find a cared selection of textiles, pottery, silver jewelry, wood carvings and more. The gallery is hosted at an old colonial house with a beautiful central patio and 5 surrounding halls. The entrance is free and English, Spanish and French is spoken. Of you want a place to eat and hang for a while this is the place. Full of nice shops and restaurants it is a safe and friendly area to spend time in. No problem to park your car or get there in a taxi. Good for dinner as well.
