I live in Northcote so one has to have been to the Northcote Social Club! It has been around longer than I know and competes with The Corner in Richmond as one of Melbourne's premier venues for significant established and emerging musicians and bands. It is essentially a pub with a performing space attached. People of all ages can go there and get a pretty good view of their chosen artists and come away with a an uplifted feeling of enjoyment.

The Wesley Anne

We had noticed this place (inside an old church!) the night before, so decided to go there for lunch. We were the only ones there so it was quiet. The decor was amazing, I wished there was something like that back in Perth. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Loved it!

Peacock Inn Hotel

Strolled up High St and popped in due to the Social Club being closed for lunch and the railway club being booked out, and by gosh I’m glad we did. So warm and cosy - they have done a brilliant job making the best of a bad situation (COVID). Friendly and attentive service, big open fire place, lovely background music, Carlton draught on tap, lunch special porterhouse steak amazing!! So well cooked to medium rare and the pepper sauce was delicious. I’m so pleased this impressive old faithful impressed me as I can’t recall it doing that in the past. Please - come and visit. Such good value and such a great old institution.
