Visited Zamm again since I feel my energies are so dispersed lately and can't quite find my center. I was pleasantly surprised at how in depth and how enlightening she is. Zamm took the time to carefully explain every facet and minute detail of my reading. I thought maybe 15 mins was all-turned out to be an hour's worth of genuine sincerity and empathy, and a lot of enlightenment and encouragement. she definitely helped lift a huge load of my shoulders and helped me find my center and refocus. Thank you Zamm for treating me like an old friend!

Olivo

A working olive grove, one of the oldest in New Zealand with a purpose built olive oil tasting room.

Reviewed By Red2explorer

Most people go to Matinborough for the vineyards but thia hidden gem is also worth a visit. The hosts gave us a lovely tour of the grove, explaining all about olives, harvesting, the different varieties and many more. At the end of the tour we watched a short video about the pressing of the olives and then proceeded to taste a variety of oils. Thanks to Olivo we now know what to look out for when buying or tasting olive oil, and what each type really means. They also have olive oil soap which I can't wait to try!

Fragrifert Parfumeur, the Victorian Perfumery

Fragrifert Parfumeur, The Victorian Perfumery, is a mini-museum and perfume emporium all in one. All perfumes are made by me, Francesco van Eerd, and are created using time honoured techniques and with a high percentage of natural materials. Just as they would have been made one hundred years ago. Where nature allows, I even distill my own materials. I welcome you to visit for yourself the fragrant excitement that is Fragrifert Parfumeur, at the Top of the Cable Car!

We’ve found this place whilst visiting a coffee shop at the top of the cable car. We walked in and were totally fascinated by the smell and the sight. Beautiful period setting, very attentive host who is happy to share his passion for perfumes with visitors, and new and exciting smells. Yes, we’ve bought perfumes to remember this place by and I would recommend anybody to go and see and smell for yourself! You will not be disappointed!

Had a wonderfully informative tour by Ian who guided us through the cultural and scientific history of the amazing Jade/Greenstone. We felt drawn to two specific pieces which haven’t been taken off since and we were delighted to find these as it means a lot to my partner and I to have this connection to her heritage. Thanks to Ian and all the other artists/staff.

Makana Chocolate Boutique

This is a chocolate boutique where they make speciality chocolates before your eyes (and you can have a go too!) and the products are the best chocolates, without fear of contradiction, you'll find anywhere!

We stopped in after visiting the Saturday market across the street while on holiday. It was fun watching them make the macadamia caramel corn and sampling the treats. The manager was so friendly and seemed genuinely interested in our family; she is a gem. The macadamia butter toffee crunch is addictively good. We bought a gift basket (a gift we gave ourselves) that included this, and the toffee crunch didn’t last 24 hours; we were all sneaking pieces of it. So so good! It would be cool if they expanded to the point of having more of a tour option or some type of interactive chocolate making experience,

The Coromandel Smoking Co.

Reviewed By egreenlandscaping - Port Orchard, United States

We visited NZ in 2008 and discovered this place then, even getting our Christmas eve dinner there! We just returned in November, and made a trip up the Coromandel to visit it again. Once again we chose the large sampler tray at $45 NZ, which lasted us for a week of tasty dinner, lunches or snacks! Whitefish, salmon, mussels, and some of the fresh local fish, all superbly smoked and boneless. Buy some good bread and crackers, pick up some of the smoked olives or cheeses they also have, some NZ wine and you'll be in smoky heaven! It's very basic and old fashioned inside, but it's a wonderful place to visit!
