One of the best Farmer's market I have been to and I try to go to them in new cities that we travel to. You can find everything here you need for cooking a great meal from beef to pork to fresh vegetables to roasted peppers (roasted right there) salts, flowers, eggs, soap, bread...you name it!

Seaglass Salvage Market

Reviewed By pparrothead - Wilmington, United States

The New Seaglass Salvage Market, now in Castle Hayne is located on Castle Hayne Road with easy access from I-40 and also from Wilmington. There is a nice sized parking lot that is paved and plenty of rooms to walk through once you are inside. My wife and I walked around to check out this nice and open location and saw a good variety of vendors and craftsmen/women....There were antiques, stained glass, pottery, paintings, framed artwork and photos and many items that were re-purposed for other uses.... We purchased a couple of cement planter frames from "Moki" , one of the vendors and then headed on out. This new location was nice and conveniently located and made for a nice morning get out of the house trip....Something we can all use nowadays.

As a local, I frequent Barbers Orchard often, particularly their bakery. For folks visiting our wonder Smoky Mountains, you MUST stop in for a cider donut, some fresh apple cider, canned jams, or fresh apples to take home with you. When you step out of your car, you will smell the wonderful aromas of fresh baked pies, cookies, donuts, etc. This is a MUST on your destination list.

Wonderful stop at this store and chatting with the elderly gentleman who runs it. He took time to pull out an old "history" book of the area and showed us how this is the REAL oldest store in the state. Definitely worth a visit! We bought some farm fresh eggs and cooked them over the fire at our camp.

Hospice Thrift Store

This thrift shop is fun. Whether you find something there or not, it's fun to look. Clothes, household items and home decor items are all represented. I went to one of the estate sales in the back of the building and fell in love with a framed picture. I didn't buy it, and the next time it was still there. I still didn't buy it. And at the next estate sale I went to, it was gone. I felt bad, and after looking around the estate sale some more, I went back into the thrift shop. I looked up, and there was the picture, marked WAY down. Apparently if something does not sell in one of the every 2 week estate sales for a long time , it could end up in the thrift shop! Not everything, I'm sure, but it was such a find for me!. The place is nice and clean and has some very good things. Clothing, furniture even small appliances and linens. Frames, pictures, seasonal items, shoes, and handbags show up too.. I bought a very nice little cart for $5.00! Try this shop, you'll like it!
