Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Tours & Tastings

We brewed our first batch of beer in 1980 in Chico, California, the lush forests of North Carolina far from our mind. Over three decades, folks tried our bold beers and deemed them fit for friends across the country. In time a second brewery became the wisest, most sustainable way to send fresh beer to the farthest reaches. Today you can venture inside our Mills River brewery to trace our history as a craft beer pioneer and see first-hand our drive to make flavorful beer the status quo. Cruise up our wooded driveway, park under a solar-panel canopy, and head behind the scenes with us. Our tours fill up quickly! You must make reservations online for all tours except the Guided Tasting and the self-guided Visitor Corridor. Click below to check availability and book your tour. Please feel free to contact our Tour Desk before your visit if you have any questions about our tour programs or policies.

I was able to take my husband on the Beer Geek Tour at Sierra Nevada - a 3 hour behind the scenes tour that included many samples and a great explanation of the Sierra Nevada experience and history. We already enjoyed the beer, but seeing the brewery, including the workers walking around, really added a connection. The tour was not expensive, especially compared to similar experiences at other breweries, and it was worth every penny! The Beer Geek Tour is a maximum of 6 guests, so we never felt rushed or questions weren't answered. Our tour guide, Julia, was awesome and was very friendly and patient with us as we walked around the brewery. I had injured myself 2 days before and she never made me felt like I was holding the group back. We can't wait to come back to Sierra Nevada and try another tour or even more of the beers! And be sure to go to the restaurant afterwards - the food there is incredible!

We visited on a weekend with 2 other couples and this place is always good. Not loud so you can converse and have a good beer. Very pet friendly so we normally take our pup. I have not tried the on-site food/restaurant yet. They usually have a food truck or 2 on the weekends. Great selection of their local brews as well as a few others. Parking can be scarce at times but I recommend that you stop in for a cold one.

Mica Town Brewing

Reviewed By Nebobound - Kintore, United Kingdom

The first time I visited the Mica Town Brewery, I was the designated driver and ordered a cold-brewed coffee. For someone who normally drinks coffee hot with milk and sugar it had to be special and I wasn't disappointed - it was luscious. My partner and son-in-law tasted a couple of beers each and we vowed to come back so that we girls could taste some too. All 4 of us returned a few days later and my daughter, partner and I each chose a flight of 4 beers from the blackboard. This time it was my son-in-law who drank coffee and he enjoyed it too. The beers were great although there is one I wouldn't have again. It wasn't a bad beer, just too sweet for my taste. We sat outside at first but could smell cigarette smoke from the smoking area. When we moved indoors, the air-con was vicious but the barmaid turned it down. My son-in-law then explored upstairs and found a big, airy games room where we proceeded to play several games of corn-hole while we enjoyed our beers. This is a brilliant addition to the offerings in Marion and we will definitely return next time we visit my daughter in the States. I'm sure she and her husband will be back long before then. There are snacks available to have with your beer (or cider or coffee) but we didn't try them this time. A future feast perhaps.

Went as couples to Blowing Rock Brewing for beer, didn't have the food. Beer was awesome! The Red Rider was our favorite, but they had a seasonal stout with gingerbread that was a close second. Great little brewery with an awesome experience. We stood out in the snow to enjoy our beers. They had multiple tables/chairs and a tent with heaters. They have a small parking lot in the rear. There is also an abundance of free street parking.
