Bottom line, up front...in the end, with a military discount, we paid $140 for a family of four and added an additional $100 for food and souvenirs. Yet, beyond the high price point, Tweetsie Railroad was well worth the day. Our kids will remember this experience for a long time. Between the actual train and riding on numerous kiddie rides, the lines were never an issue. If I could offer one complaint, it'd be the price of concessions. I paid in excess of $15 for water not realizing one could bring in their own bottle. Perhaps more advertising is due?

Santa's Land

Let's be honest. This is no Disney World or Universal! However, for what and where it is, it is perfect! This is a small, slow-paced carnival/zoo park. I found it to be very clean and quaint. There is plenty of shade, and many places to sit. In addition, the staff was quite friendly, and even offered advice on the most shaded benches to sit on, and where to find air conditioning! We had a five-year-old with us. The simple rides were perfect for him! Even the roller coaster was cute, with just enough excitement to keep elementary-aged kids entertained without being scared. We had lunch while in the park and found the food to be good. In fact, my husband was thrilled that his hamburger was made to order, just the way he likes it! We were privileged to get to see the first ever set of grizzly bear cubs Santa's Land has kept; however, they will only be there until November 30th, so act fast if you want to see them.

Magic Mountain Mini Golf and Arcade

Reviewed By brianbK2482DT

We love to try new mini golf courses on vacation and this one was unique in that we were golfing on the hillside. The course makes its way up the hill. The holes were challenging because of how the ball might roll back down, but it wasn't so difficult that it wasn't fun. It added to the fun. You can even score a free game if you get a hole in one on a couple of designated holes. When looking this place up, I also found a listing for Sunrise Mountain Golf. It's the same place. As for the reviews that note its upkeep...It's no country club, but perfectly acceptable for a fun course and the people were friendly. Oh, and make sure to get a dollar off each admission with a card that is displayed with the tourism info onsite at the building.

Enjoy the outdoors and spend time with friends & family! We have sweet treats, good eats and soft drinks too. Tubes are one size fits all so you don't have to watch your waist line!Tubing for the whole family!

Reviewed By turninghawk1 - Gulf Shores, United States

Although a bit nerve-racking to get to (the road has MANY switchbacks!) it was well worth it. This place is run by a very friendly, accommodating, Christian family that wants to be sure everyone has a great time. There is a small beach area with a few covered/shaded picnic tables, chairs, hammocks, and a fire going. Limited menu food service too, offering BBQ, hot dogs, burgers, and some really good ice cream! For $10 you get a tube and a bus ride to the put-in spot, and a nice downriver experience totaling about 2 hours. As grandparents, we enjoyed the beach and shaded areas, while the grandkids braved the somewhat chilly waters. This was an experience we will be remembering for a long time. Highly recommended!
