Then you haven’t seen the Netherlands. You won’t find such an abundance of colours and fragrances anywhere else. More than seven million flowers form a glorious decor for the most beautiful photos. Come to Keukenhof and enjoy the ultimate spring feeling, the wonderful works of art, the surprising insipration Gardens and the many flower shows.

I visited Keukenhof Gardens 5 days ago. If you're thinking of coming now, don't - wait 3 or 4 weeks. The tulips aren't in full bloom yet, mainly due to the harsh winter weather experienced here and the rest of the world in recent weeks. It's still a nice visit, but it will be so much prettier later on this month when the tulips are all out. It was mainly daffodils that were in bloom here, as well as a few other small spring flowers. Definitely not the carpet of colours I was expecting. A little disappointing, but as I said, still a nice visit. Very relaxing as it wasn't overrun with tourists. There were still plenty of visitors, but it certainly wasn't crowded. It was nice. The main flower displays were in the pavillions - that's were all the tulips are, however it doesn't look as nice as tulips growing outside in their natural environment. My favourite part was the orchid displays in one of the pavillions - simply stunning. Beautiful flowers in an array of colours. My second favourite part was the windmill, which visitors were welcome to go up. There were river boat cruises departing by the windmill, and on a dry, sunny day, that would have been absolutely lovely, but it was a miserable, rainy day when we went, so I decided to give it a miss. Plenty of souvenir shops and restaurants are available for you to buy your souvenirs and grab a bite to eat or a cup of coffee. Beware of the coffee here though - so strong! And where we went, they didn't even have milk for my Americano - only creamer! A lovely attraction, a lovely day out, but please make sure the tulips are in full bloom before you visit if at all possible.

Kitesurfschoolnoordwijk

My friend and I went here for a our first kitesurfing lessons. The pace was tailor made and although my friend and I were at different skill levels, the instructor managed to let both of us learn at our own pace. The equipment was good and it felt like a safe learnings environment. We didn't do anything that we couldn't handle.

The Ruins Of Teylingen

Reviewed By TheCedarJournal - The Netherlands

This old castle ruin is tucked in the outskirts of Sassenheim on the way to Voorhout. Don't blink or you will miss it. Only open from 1400 -1700 Friday-Sunday it was hard to ever get to this location when it was open.
It over looks the fields and gives a history in Dutch (you can also ask for an English guide brochure). 3 Euros and you can walk around the location and climb about 40 stairs to what was part of the old tower. Not in the best of condition as time has taken its toll on this structure but it can give you an idea what it must have been like in this area in and around the year 1200.
It was the home of Countess Jacoba van Bieren (1400's) who owned as great deal of land in the area part of what is now the Keukenhof Gardens.
If you are into Castles and old history this is a good place to visit. Added bonus was a tulip self pick garden right next door. 5 Euros for 25 tulips....tulips and Castles perfect combination!

Keukenhof Castle

Reviewed By hermanschotanus - Lisse, The Netherlands

This estate opposite the famous flowershow is a gem in its own right. The former owner, earl Van Lynden, donated this property to a foundation Landgoed The Keukenhof, in 2006. The house and the surrounding park is completely restored and very interesting to visit. The park is open to the public and a tour can be organized in advance. No surprise this location is favoured for weddings and joyful feasts!
