Noia (Galician pronunciation: [ˈnɔja]) is a town and municipality in the autonomous community of Galicia in northwestern Spain. It is the capital of the comarca with the same name. It has a population of 14,947 inhabitants (2010), being situated in the Province of A Coruña, some 20 miles west of Santiago de Compostela near the mouth of the Tambre river.

This church is probably the most significant building in Noia with a lot of history associated with it. It was once the seat of the Arch Bishop, it has a similar portico to that of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela etc. The bad news is that it is normally locked unless a service is about to take place. However, the main way to enjoy this building is from the Tapal square (which it faces) at one of the two bars adjacent to and facing it. They are da Pepa and the Tapal. In summer there are some fiestas that take place on this square in front of the church, e.g. the fiesta of the empanada (a kind of pie), and they also have outdoor cinema screenings there too. It makes for a great atmosphere.

This place is the main town square/garden in Noia. It is lined with bars and the council offices on one side and is great for people watching. Lots of trees (inc. giant palms) and in summer it hosts the main fiesta and a number of other events. Very attractive spot and a great place to meet up with friends. In summer, on both evenings and weekends it very busy.

I would just echo what everyone else has said. This is a spectacular nature spot. The river walk is great, the views fantastic, and you will see very few other people around. It is very close to Noia, but you would think that you were in the middle of nowhere. Great use of an old hydroelectric plant - or so I am told by my wife's family who are from there.
