During our CSR program on Nias Island, we took time to see the jumping stone attraction directly and learning the story of Nias people. A lifetime experience that can’t be missed.

Bawomataluo Village

Reviewed By dasacandra - Stockholm, Sweden

The village is perched on the highest point of Nias. The views from the village is super, but for me the village itself who captured my heart. When I reached the village after climbing 86 stone steps, I met with mesmerizing views of rows of beautiful houses with ingenious architect which could stand and stay intact even after the big earth quake in 2004. And they're still fully functional as residents after hundreds of years. There's two locals who showed us around the village for a small fee. And then of course you could see the unique one of a kind stone jump, where a young man leap a 2 meters high stone structure. You have to pay 150K rupiah to be able to see it, but it's totally worth it. The money goes to the jumper (100K) and the rest goes to the village.
