The History Museum of Catawba County is located in the old 1924 Courthouse in the center of Downtown Newton. The main head quarters of the Historical Association of Catawba County, the History Museum houses changing exhibit galleries, our genealogy collection, the original 1924 courtroom, and more.
This is a great museum that is often overlooked. There is a lot of history of Catawba County, as well as western North Carolina. The recent Smithsonian exhibit on how people work was a great exhibit. I love the upstairs courtroom, it just gives you a great feel for the 1920s.

Convenient to Catawba County residents and less than an hour from uptown Charlotte, yet a world away, the 34 acres of Catawba Farms provide the perfect setting for The Vineyard & Winery at Catawba Farms. On the property you'll find our tasting room, vineyard, picnic area, farm animals to interact with, fields to wander, as well as the historic Peacock Inn.
My husband and I visited Catawba Farms last weekend for the first time and had a great experience. We went around lunch time and did a wine tasting first (we tried 5 wines and ended up buying 2 of them-highly recommend the green apple riesling-very light and not too sweet). Then we had a burger from their food truck, Trey, and I must say that was 1 of the best burgers I've ever had! My husband had the Carolina classic with slaw and chili and said it was delicious (it was so good he forgot to let me taste it!). Mine had pepper jack cheese, avocado, aioli, and pickled jalapenos and was delicious. Even the bun was perfect. Did I mention the delicious fries? To top it off, we each had a beer with our lunch because Catawba Farms is also a BREWERY! The Farmhouse Ale was spectacular! The Big Edd's Revenge was also really good. We plan to go back this week to enjoy live music on Thursday night. We were excited to find this vineyard because not only it is close to Huntersville but it also is a great vineyare/brewery!
