What to do and see in Newport, Oregon (OR): The Best Museums

August 10, 2021 Renato Branum

With its ideal location on the magnificently rugged Oregon Coast, the entire city of Newport is a natural observatory that offers a number of fun and educational activities for the whole family. Spend the morning exploring tide pools, combing the beach for fossils and spotting marine life in their natural habitats. Then head over to the Oregon Coast Aquarium where you can pet an octopus and walk through a glass tunnel surrounded by sharks. Newport is also home to two lighthouses, one of which is the tallest on the Oregon Coast. Historic Nye Beach, with its colorful cottages and laid-back atmosphere, is the perfect spot for a picnic and a quick rest from all the sightseeing.

We are offering a Covid Safe option for the exciting glass blowing classes we are known to offer. We made an appointment for two of our grandchildren to do some glass - and we brought the whole family (12 of us were there altogether) - While the older children were given a hands on class on how the create heavy glass paper weights all of our other children were able to watch through their big glass windows behind a seating area. We could not stay and wait for the glass to cool so they are shipping them to us, and my grandchildren can't wait to get home and see their final creations!!

Jeff was amazing. We have been doing the glass floats, dishes, Starfish and other glass items over the years. We have been to several different locations over the last 15 years and Jeff was the best . His instructions and attention to detail is far above any experience we have had in the past. During past experience the instructor would go through the motions and it seemed they just wanted you to finish. Jeff actually wanted our projects to be the best they could be. We made two bowls and a bird.
