We were delighted to see that this small promontory was reserved for the public, and we felt it was tastefully designed with a curving "vanishing" walkway leading down to the viewing area where there are teakwood benches facing the sea. The viewing area is romantic, so weddings are held there. The shape of the viewing area suggests the bow of a small boat facing the activity on the beach and channel to the Newport Beach harbor, but we felt that the view to the south was the most captivating because of the shapes of the cliff and rugged rocks in and near the water, especially just before sunset.

Went with my family early evening in January. Bring a sweatshirt, enjoy a stroll among quaint shops and restaurants, beautiful boats and homes, and be prepared for the best chocolate-dipped ice cream bar you’ll ever have (the Balboa Bar!). If you are feeling adventurous, you can take the public ferry across to the peninsula (not very far).

A great little adventure plus a short cut to get from Balboa Island to the Newport Peninsula. Include a ride for weekend dates. It is operated in a safe manner. Prices are inexpensive. On the Newport Peninsula side it ends at the ferris wheel and other attractions, including other boat cruises. Evening ferry rides bring out the colorful harbor lights.

I have been to The Resort at Pelican Hill before BUT had never been to The Spa. I was looking so forward to it but honestly, I was a tad worried- sometimes these luxurious hotel spas can be pretentious and way too self-important. Turns out, that was NOT the case here....I enjoyed the day and felt most welcome. My daughter gifted me with this lovely Spa Day via Groupon and yes...sometimes those deals can be a disappointment but in this case, it was really great and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I received the Rest&Relax 50 min massage, a glass of Prosecco and unlimited use of the facilities. The place is gorgeous and large, as you would expect from a 5 Star resort. The Staff is very friendly, from check in to end, I was made to feel most welcome and every effort was made for my comfort. I had a Male Massage Therapist who did a wonderful job (I actually prefer Men) and the oils and enhancements he used during the session were fantastic. The treatment rooms are gorgeous. I used the beautiful over-sized jacuzzi and the steam room and I have to say--the temperatures for both were perfect for me. Often they can be too hot to the point you feel that you are cooking so I was happy that both were very comfortable. The lockers are large and the locker areas and restrooms are fully stocked with anything you may need. There are plenty of places to lounge that are comfortable and the waiting area features delicious infused teas and small bites (LOVED the Blondies!). Low light, comfy sofas and chairs and various reading materials make it easy to relax before and after your service. I am an Orange County resident and I have been to several Day Spas in the area that are nice BUT now that I know The Spa at Pelican Hill is such a lovely place to spend the day- I will be looking forward to coming back as often as possible.
