Christian's Bar

Best place to get Screeched In in Newfoundland. “A place that sense of occasion” New York Times Travel Magazine. #1 Screech In Ceremony (The Scope) Top 5 Deatinations in Atlantic Canada (Travelocity)

Reviewed By danschaumann - Toronto, Canada

I went on a Saturday night bar crawl along George St and my 3rd stop was Christian's. I wasn't originally planning to do the screech in but I happened to be there at the right time and put my name down for it. It was totally worth the $20. The ceremony was highly entertaining and the cod's lips were as salty and icy as you're likely to find in St John's.

The Newfoundland Distillery Company

We are the first full distillery in the province and use as many local ingredients as possible to make our hand crafted, copper-stilled spirits. We have a Tasting Room to sample all our spirits or try a cocktail or two. From there you can look into the distillery to see at work, or enjoy superb views of the ocean. We also have a shop that sells our spirits, locally made and imported tonics and a small range of other local products and foods.

Riverside Restaurant & Lounge

Reviewed By ShelleyO30

Our first time checking out this restaurant on our way home to Torbay from a drive to Portugal Cove South, having enjoyed the views in Ferryland. The decor was beautiful inside and out, even in the washrooms! The staff was so friendly. Was talking to my significant other about how even if the food wasn't great, we would still go back because of the look and friendliness received here. Then the food came. I had fish, chips and gravy. He had a hanburger platter with gravy. The food was just as good as how much we loved the place. So impressed by everything about this place that we are driving from Torbay back to the area and stopping in again with the kids next week! Large takout ordering area, large separate bar area with VLC games, cozy and tastefully decorated separate eating area, licenced outdoor eating deck, one of the cleanest places I have ever been in. I don't know how owns the place but would like to say....Awesome job with your restaurant! Great place to visit on your drive 'up the shore' as I hear it called. lol
