What to do and see in New Jersey, United States: The Best Wineries & Vineyards

January 13, 2022 Matilde Konrad

Whether you are looking for sun-drenched beaches or outdoor activities in beautiful countryside, New Jersey has plenty to offer. Those who love the great outdoors should head for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, which runs along the Delaware River for forty miles. Here you can go rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking or fishing, or simply admire the stunning waterfalls. There is a huge range of hiking trails to choose from as well as historic sites to visit. In winter, you can enjoy cross-country skiing near Blue Mountain Lakes, and birdwatchers might be lucky enough to catch sight of bald eagles. If you are looking for a change, visit one of New Jersey's eleven lighthouses that are open to public, such as the one in Cape May. For art and history enthusiasts, New Jersey State Museum in Trenton has historic artifacts and American fine art from the nineteenth century to the present day as well as a Planetarium.

Fantastic! As every experience is when we visit Valenzano! This Pour & Pair was beautifully set and exquisitely hosted by Danny. His tour was informative, warm and a lovely way to start the evening. His passion for wine making is evident in his tour and brings such light to each bottle of wine we enjoy with family and friends. Every course was delicious and every wine served was perfectly paired with an explanation the for the pairing. I always look forward to the events hosted by Danny at Valenzano. They are second to none.

Just discovered Willow Creek on our most recent trip to Cape May and absolutely loved it! The grounds and winery are beautiful, and the outdoor bar (and bartenders!) couldn’t be nicer! Beth took care of us on both our visits and made my kids’ day with her special (i.e., non-alcoholic) frozen daiquiris. We enjoyed yummy food, good sangria and, best of all, CORN HOLE! They’ve got multiple boards with tables set up next to the outdoor bar. It was the perfect way to spend the afternoon with our kids. Bob and Season also couldn’t be nicer (and thanks, Bob, for helping us out with our scavenger hunt!). We’ll definitely be back for the wonderful food, scenery, and hospitality!

Every time I come here I am greeted with a smile. The tasting is a very reasonable price for being able to taste so many wines! Added bonus, all of the wines are amazing. It's always a tough choice when deciding what to bring home. I definitely take home different things every time. I love hanging outside for their Rootstock Vineyard Concert Series, Saturdays on the Crushpad, and Sangria Sundays. The views and the music is always awesome!

I have revisited this winery twice since I wrote my original review. I returned last fall for another tour/tasting with a Groupon. Once again, I highly recommend this experience. It is really well done. Book early as it fills up. I returned again last month to restock some of my red wines. Good Karma is definitely a winner. I honestly think this is probably the best winery in the mid Atlantic region because of its consistency good wines. The reds are the closet thing I've found to Napa. There is ample outdoor seating and the property is very pretty. Enjoy!

We are regulars @ Sharrott, are wine club members, and will continue. We love the relaxing atmosphere, the attentive and pleasant staff, and have gotten to know them over the years making them family! As regulars in Napa & the Lake Seneca region, I must say the food is fantastic with diverse choices and a changing menu with the seasons. Currently, the Asian Crab Cake and the Beef Medallions over Risotto are excellent choices. Add the fact that you get wine at the retail price without the typical restaurant markup, live music and you have an inexpensive date night that is tasteful and entertaining. Cannot wait to try the fire pit in a couple weeks

A great place to enjoy and relax. Everything-wine,food,people, atmosphere. is good .The wines are enjoyable,Unlike at some other "Snobbish" wineries where they treat you as if there are doing the favor to you, everyone at this place is friendly, helpful and professional.Another big plus is their fresh, wood fired pizzas and salads.Everything is so fresh. There is ample seating and live music on some evenings.Your visit is always very enjoyable.I have been visiting for a number of years and am glad that they have maintained their standards well.If you plan a visit, please be ready to spend at least an hour or two.It is worth it. And please do inform Violetta Neri, the owner how your experience was.She is normally at the front keeping an eye on everything.
