What to do and see in New Jersey, United States: The Best Antique Stores

July 18, 2021 Randal Brittian

Whether you are looking for sun-drenched beaches or outdoor activities in beautiful countryside, New Jersey has plenty to offer. Those who love the great outdoors should head for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, which runs along the Delaware River for forty miles. Here you can go rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking or fishing, or simply admire the stunning waterfalls. There is a huge range of hiking trails to choose from as well as historic sites to visit. In winter, you can enjoy cross-country skiing near Blue Mountain Lakes, and birdwatchers might be lucky enough to catch sight of bald eagles. If you are looking for a change, visit one of New Jersey's eleven lighthouses that are open to public, such as the one in Cape May. For art and history enthusiasts, New Jersey State Museum in Trenton has historic artifacts and American fine art from the nineteenth century to the present day as well as a Planetarium.

Elysium Antiques

this shop is lovely, full to the brim with variety. There are multiple sellers on offer, with small trinkets to large furniture, and lots in between. There aren't many good antique shops in this part of N.J., but this is a hidden gem. Great prices as well, with a fun owner who plays good music. I found so many unique items as I leisurely roamed the shop. I'll happily go back!

A Touch of the Past Antiques

Reviewed By 60elliotj - Newtown, United States

We found the store well organized across three floors, over 8,000 sf of retail space in all in a building known as the Grand Depot. The main floor is mostly traditional antiques with a small outdoor area, the lower level is filled with mid-century modern items, and the mezzanine level includes both fine traditional art and sculpture mixed with some contemporary. A Touch of the Past is one of 30 dealers in what was formerly a grain hall at the turn of the century. We also visited the Peoples Store next door, which was a little lower end so plenty for everyone. Definitely worth a visit.

Such a great experience! The store itself was adorable, and has so many great items at reasonable prices. The owners were very helpful and honest (I was looking at a piece and thought it was old; they let me know that it wasn’t an antique but a more recent reproduction at the risk of losing my business- I really appreciated their integrity). I’ve been to most of the antique stores in the area and this was my favorite.
