What to do and see in New Hampshire, United States: The Best Nature & Wildlife Tours

October 24, 2021 Sachiko Swiger

If you are looking for diversity, you will certainly find it in New Hampshire. From lakes to beaches, waterfalls to woods and mountains to sea coast, the state has huge potential for outdoor vacations, including downhill or cross-country skiing in winter. With no less than seventy-five state parks that offer natural areas, hiking trails, beaches and historic sites, New Hampshire caters for a variety of tastes. Crawford Notch State Park in Harts Location has picturesque waterfalls, wonderful mountain views and opportunities for viewing wildlife. You can go hiking and fishing there as well as pay a visit to the historic Willey House. Monadnock State Park, unlike some other state parks, is open all year round for hiking. Want to go swimming? You will find five state park beaches along the coast of New Hampshire, such as Wallis Sands with its view of the rocky Isles of Shoals. On North Hampton State Beach and Jenness Beach you can have a picnic as well as a swim. When you've finally had your fill of fresh air, head for the Museum of New Hampshire History in Concord with exhibits focusing on heritage and traditions; children should enjoy them just as much as adults.

Gorham Moose Tours

Join us as we take you on a 3 hour tour (yes, just like Gilligan's Island) in one of our comfortable tour buses. Enjoy a moose / wildlife tour on the North Country's longest-running tour with experienced wildlife guides that know just where to search and find MOOSE! It is illegal to shine lights in order to spot moose or other animals, but we have permission from the state of NH, so our buses are equipped with spot lights to find and view MOOSE after dark. Night time is the ideal time to view moose, but also the most dangerous as they blend in with their surroundings and dark backgrounds. That's why we recommend letting us do the driving and searching for you! When possible and safe, we allow visitors to disembark the bus and get a closer look at these beautiful animals. Our success rate for 2013 was 96% and in one tour we were fortunate to see 23 MOOSE! Our tours run from the end of May until the end of September in order to increase our chances of seeing our wonder friends, the MOOSE. Please understand that MOOSE like all animals can be unpredictable and there is no guarantee of seeing a moose, but we will make every effort to make your trip enjoyable! So make Gorham a destination on your next trip and take a MOOSE TOUR! Remember to bring the appropriate clothing for the weather and don't forget your camera or video to capture your adventure. We hope to see you soon!

Silver Ranch Stables

Weddings, Horse Drawn Carriages, Sleigh & Hayrides, Lessons, Boarding and Training. Silver Ranch: 100 Years in the Making In the beginning: Roscoe Sawyer married Rita Parsons in 1914 and later moved to the current Silver Ranch farmhouse in 1917. He began a dairy operation. By about 1930 while in the wholesale and retail business and raising five children he purchased a horse. It took no time at all to realize that more horses were needed for the children (and parents). In order for the horses to earn their keep they were rented out to the public. As the rental business grew even more horses were needed. In 1932 Roscoe moved a barn to the current location to house their expanding equine business.
