Kalaram Temple

Reviewed By sudhibhushan - Bangalore

Kalaram temple is dedicated to Lord Ram and is located close to the Godavari River in the Panchavati area of Nashik. This temple was constructed in the 17th century with beautiful black stones and is architecturally very pleasing.
As the name Kala Ram (Black Ram in Hindi) implies, the temple and the statues of Lord Ram, Laxman and Goddess Sita are all carved in black stone. One could also observe a black stone statue of Lord Hanuman in front of the sanctum sanctorum. As per the prevailing legend, these statues were initially found in the Godavari River and were placed in the temple later.
As per the legend, Lord Ram spent few years here during his 14 years exile (Vanavas). The saints living in the Panchavati area requested Ram’s help in eliminating the demons (Rakshasas) who were creating havoc there. Ram has to evoke his dark side (kala roop) to fight and eliminate the demons.
Points to Note:-
1. The devotees have to pass through a security gate at the entrance
2. Mobile phones and Camera are not allowed inside the temple
3. This temple resembles the Tryambakeshwar temple owing to the usage of the black stones and its unique construction style.
4. Calm and peaceful temple located near the Sita Gupha
5. Well maintained and clean
Kalaram temple is must visit temple for all the devotees visiting Panchavati.

Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple

Reviewed By GolakaNath - Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

We visited the temple for second time in recent times and had the darshan of the Lord when we visited Nashik for office picnic. On our way on Highway, we took a detour and landed on State Highway to drive towards Trimbakeshwar temple. The car parking charges is only 20 and you can walk for few minutes (5 minutes or so) to reach the temple. However, there are touts who will scare you and offer you to take the car near the temple for 200 which is not required. You can park in such a way in parking lot that you are close to entrance of the temple which will serve the same purpose. You can stand in the queue or pay 200 donation at the entrance to directly enter the temple. We chose to stand in the queue but did not realize that the temple gets closed for 40-45 minutes at about 11.30-11.40AM and hence had to wait for 2 hours in queue to reach the temple.
They hardly allow you to see the Lord properly and pray. It is better to stand in one side within the main temple and pray. It was good visit.

Anjneri Hill

The anjaneri hill is located 20 km away from the Nashik city.Anjaneri is birthplace of Lord Hanuman.
Basically, it is range of small Mountains connected other ranges of Trimbakeshwar. This mountain best suited for easy trek with family or friends.
We Started trek from anjaneri village located just height from ground, this village is well connected with road;i.e. Nashik-Trimbakeshwar road.

At start of trek weather was just some pitch of hot and humid type, as these were initial month of Mansoon. As we going up on one hill, we were able see towards ground land covered with green banket and nature is getting ready for Mansoon.
As we were climbing up, we find a valley of rock. Between the two hill, they made way of steps for climb up. There were water is floating over steps and it will make curious about next thing.
As up of this valley, greenish alley of uneven ground. Which would remember the sence of Raja Hindustani.
There is some surpice package of small lake, make you say " wow".
Resting at lake, all set another hill calling you take on. It is quite straight climb and rock stairs to go up. As the half of hill is covered with Cotton like clouds, it were amazing to walk through it.
At up a flat ground and strong cold wind refreshing your mind. At top of the Mountains we found a temple of Anjani Mata, mother of God Hanuman.
Location is heavenly like, all around we found fog and chill air goes.
Thunder!! Mesmerised!! Breathing!!!
Total experience make you refreshing and memorable.
Must visit in Mansoon!!!!

Pandavleni Caves

Reviewed By GolakaNath - Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

We visited the Caves when we traveled to Nashik recently. We started at about 10.00AM and visited all 24 caves and finished our sight seeing at about 12.30PM. The weather was little hot and humid during the time of our visit. The tree lines on your way are totally dried and you have to climb about 200 steps or so to reach the top. The tickets are available at the top only (near entrance). They charge 15 for Indians and 200 for foreigners. There are few caves which are very good and not to be missed. No. 3, 10, 23 are best ones. I do not know why they have stated 8th cave as one of the best. We could not see anything inside. There are carvings in Pali language in some of the caves. Buddha in various poses are chiseled on the walls and pillars. There is a large prayer Hall where the chanting creates vibration and we chanted "Buddha'm Saranam Gachhami" and it had a good impact. The Chaita (Stupa) is also not to be missed. Some climbing is required to reach few caves. But it was worth it. You can have a good view of the Nashik city from the top.

Vallonne Vineyards

I discovered it quite by accident. Was taking the new Scorpio off the beaten track en route to Sula, and found the boards directing me to Vallone - a boutique vineyard they claimed. At it truly is. Let me go backwards and say that we went to Sula after visiting Vallone, and then we realised, what an experience it was at Vallone. What goes for Vallone?
1. A stunning view
2. It really is boutique. 4 rooms. A decent sized restaurant. and thats it. No crowds, but always full
3. Awesome food. Malaka Straits of Pune fame is at Vallone - I think the owners of the Vineyard and the restaurant are the same. Incredibly awesome food
4. A curated wine tasting tour. 6 - 7 people a batch. And they will explain the process and their ethos with personal care and pride over 1 hour.
If you want to book here, book at least 6 months in advance for weekends. Weekdays should not be an issue

The temple is really well made. The art work on the walls, pillars, ceilings and everywhere is Outstanding. The location of the temple is also excellent. Surrounded by hills on all 4 sides, panoramic view of the Mumbai highway, no large cement structure in the vicinity makes the view fantastic and pleasant for city dwellers.
If you visit Nashik, you must visit the temple at least once.

Muktidham Temple

Reviewed By sudhibhushan - Bangalore

Muktidham is a marble temple complex dedicated to various Hindu Gods and Goddesses. This temple was built in 1971 through a generous donation by the late industrialist Mr. J D Chauhan. The temple administration is managed by a Trust.
Unique aspects of this temple are:-
1. Replicas of 12 Jyothirlingas built as per the dimensions of the original deities. These deities were apparently sanctified by sending them to the actual temples.
2. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna with the walls depicting the life of Krishna and stories from the epic Mahabharata.
3. The eighteen chapters of Bhagavad Geeta are also written on the walls.
4. Idols of major Hindu Gods and Goddesses including Vishnu, Laxmi, Ram, Lakshman, Sita, Hanuman, Durga, Ganesha.
4. The Mukthidam complex also has a Dharamsala for pilgrims.

Frankly I had little hopes with an Indian vineyard tour /wine tasting experience but boy I was not at all disappointed. After doing guided wine tasting tours in Italy and France, let me say I was pleased with the overall experience at Sula. The tasting session was good, the guided tour was decent and the set up from the entrance to the tour was amazing. Nice places to take clicks. What was missed was a tour to the plantation for a perfect experience. Best time to enter is around 5 pm. We had to wait as we missed the tour by a whisker. Being a Friday, it wasn't very crowded. The souvenir shops had good options. We bought wine from the shops there and overall I am happy with the experience. Entry with wine tasting was around ₹ 375/- but was free as stayed with one of the 5 star properties. Good job Sula ! Want to come again and also attend Sula Fest which appeared promising from the TV snippets at the location
