Henry W. Coe State Park

Reviewed By travelerfromsj - San Jose, United States

There are multiple entrances to this state park, but we entered via the main Coe Ranch Visitor Center entrance, which is 30 minutes away from Morgan Hill on a windy but scenic road. The park is open during covid, but there’s limited parking at the visitor center, with every other parking space blocked off, so try to get there early. There’s an $8 day use fee which you self-pay at a small kiosk that you’ll see on the left when driving into the parking lot. Starting from the Visitor Center, we hiked the Springs Trail/Forest Trail Loop, which is about 3.7 miles round trip with 320 feet of elevation change. This is an easy, packed dirt trail, but very narrow, with some drop offs. It’s easy enough for kids, but not wide enough to walk side-by-side with someone. It was a great hike to do in late March because everything was still green, and there was a scattering of wildflowers. There were also scenic views of green hills and twisted, gnarly oak trees; be sure to bring your camera. Overall a great hike (walk, really), but we did find a tick when we got home, so be sure check yourself carefully after your hike.

Guglielmo Winery

Established in 1925. A cobblestone piazza and village fountain reminiscent of the family's Italian Piedmontese homeland greets visitors upon their arrival at Guglielmo Winery. As one of Northern California's wine pioneers, the Guglielmo (Gool-YELL-mo) family has been producing wine in the California Santa Clara Valley since it was founded by family patriarch Emilio Guglielmo in 1925. Today, third generation brothers George and Gene keep the family tradition alive by producing award-winning premium varietal wines from more than 100 acres of Santa Clara Valley estate vineyards, as well as other premium winegrowing regions within California. The Guglielmo family is very proud to continue the fine art of winemaking passed down through their family, as well as turning their family home and grounds into a place you will share and enjoy with your family and friends.

Uvas Canyon County Park

I have taken my very young 3 children here often. We do the hike and enjoy all the banana slugs and lizards we find. The water makes this place so gorgeous. We went in late June once and it was covered in ladybugs. I've never seen so many in my life. Every time I come here, I find peace in the beauty.
