What to do and see in Montevideo, Montevideo Department: The Best Gear Rentals

January 14, 2022 Alida England

Montevideo, a port city and the capital of Uruguay, is a perfect destination for travelers looking for a relaxing stroll past colonial era buildings and along beautiful beaches. The Ciudadela Gateway, the only remaining section of the wall that once surrounded the entire city, now serves as the entrance to Ciudad Vieja, Montevideo's oldest neighborhood. Home to churches, museums, and theaters, at night the area comes alive with nightclubs playing Tango and Candombe music for crowds of dancers.

Here you can rent scooter to travel for all the Uruguay!

Reviewed By paulomtraveller - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

As a longtime motorcyclist, I was looking forward to renting a motorcycle to explore Montevideo. Since we arrived during the carnival holiday, there weren't many options and the big motorcycles remaining were very expensive. That's when I came across Montevideo.rent. The extremely nice and helpful young people who take care of the business were quick to get us a pretty nice scooter and helmets for two. Rain gear was also available at minimum cost. Because the weather wasn't generous to us, we only rented the scooter for 24 hours. But that was enough to enjoy some sun and have an unforgettable time in this safe and beautiful city. On two wheels we were free to explore places where we wouldn't have thought of going otherwise. And getting around was so much quicker and convenient than by car or public transportation. The scooter was in very good shape and inspired trust. Micaela and the boys were amazing at supplying us with all we needed and very accommodating regarding our hours. The scooter provided a very affordable way to enjoy the city on two wheels and even my wife, who is afraid to ride with me in Rio de Janeiro, was sad that we couldn't keep the scooter for a couple more days. I highly recommend Montevideo.rent. Thanks for the great memories!

While visiting Montevideo I took a couple of walking tours as well as a cycling tour with Cyclo MVD. All were good but cycling pretty much always beats walking in the amount of ground you can cover. I can say without hesitation that Cyclo MVD has the most comfortable and best maintained bikes I’ve used on a tour, and our guide Santiago was one of the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic leaders. The drivers in Montevideo seemed pretty good and considerate but it’s a big city and a fair amount of traffic. I was impressed with Santiago’s expertise in guiding groups safely and comfortably through the city’s streets. It was the highlight of my visit to Montevideo.
