Jells Park

Surround yourself with good friends and family at Jells Park and forget you’re in the heart of Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. The wide-open spaces of Jells Park were made for fun days out with family, friends and your four-legged pooch. Wander, cycle or run the tree-lined Dandenong Creek Trail. Bird lovers, set up in one of the bird hides for your chance to spot darters, pelicans, herons and cormorants. Come prepared for a picnic or barbecue. There are several picnic areas with varying facilities around Jells Park including the Oaks and Ashes, Stringybark and Pines Picnic Areas. Or book in at Madeline’s at Jells — located in the heart of Jells Park, it's the perfect place for a coffee or bite to eat, with views to match.

You cannot visit the eastern suburbs of Melbourne without a day trip to Jells Park!! You can have lunch at the cafe or a bbq of your own, plenty of tables and spots to eat, bring a blanket, you can ALWAYS find room on your own away from the crowds. The playgrounds are fantastic for kids, as are the bike trails and walking tracks.

Namatjira Park

Reviewed By platypus150 - Melbourne, Australia

It seems to have everything and for all age groups. There is a bowling club, football oval, tall trees, wetland lakes with waterbirds, gym equipment, public toilets, a children's playground, an under cover BBQ/picnic area, drinking fountains, and both on-leash and off-leash dog areas. Walking and cycling paths are there, too, as is on site car parking. Many come here, just to have a lunch break.

Scotchmans Creek Trail

Reviewed By Traveller88Melbourne

A long trail popular with bikers, walkers & runners. I frequently walk between Warrigal Rd to Waverley Rd near Valley Reserve. This stretch has pretty bridges, mini falls, runs along Oakleigh Golf Course, Huntingdale wetlands & a long tunnel under Monash freeway. Approx 10 kms return. You will spot pretty birdlife like lorikeets & the odd kookaburra. It has been widened & well maintained with some seats along the way once you cross Huntingdale wetlands.

Great place to regularly browse - huge building with very large number of woner stalls selling a huge range of used goods. Most items are very reasonably priced (with some stall holders open to negotiation). You can easily spend an hour here walking slowly and trying to see as many of the many thousands of items for sale (huge variety of items, large and small). One of my very favourite places.

Dandenong Creek Trail

Reviewed By Dencal1945 - Melbourne, Australia

This is a great trail which follows the Dandenong creek. Total distance is about 40K and it winds through open spaces to light industrial areas. I have waked a great percentage of the train, in various sections, and have never been disappointed with the scenery and points of interest. The trail condition is excellent ranging from concrete to asphalt . There is amply birdlife along many of the stretches, and horses and cattle are regularly maintained in nearby fields. The path is shared by bikes and walkers so some degree of awareness is required.

Bushy Park Wetlands

Reviewed By kaybP92YU - Melbourne, Australia

We walked along the Bushy Park Wetlands track today from Highbury Rd to High St Rd & returning to Highbury Rd. This was such a beautiful quiet walk, very clean and well maintained and only a few people cycling or walking. We stopped at the bird hide for a while to watch the birds in this very peaceful, natural environment. We will definitely visit again.
