Joe Bonamassa coming here was mind blowing. Heart was amazing. Great comedians come here. They usually comment on the terrain of Midland/Odessa and remind us that we can leave, we don't have to stay here. Lol

A visit to the Petroleum Museum is an amazing journey through over 230 million years of history. Located in the heart of the Permian Basin, the Petroleum Museum offers over 40,000 square feet of interactive education and entertainment for adventurers of all ages. The museum's location at exit 136 off Interstate 20 makes it a great place to stop for a rest to break-up a long road trip. This was our third visit to the Petroleum Museum over the last 30 years. The friendly staff at the entrance greeted us warmly and welcomed us back. The name of the museum is somewhat misleading; while they do have outstanding exhibits about geology and the history of the petroleum industry, they also have a gallery of Western artwork, a stunning display of minerals, and the new Chaparral gallery displaying the race cars of local driver and innovator Jim Hall. The Chaparral Gallery was the primary reason for our most recent visit, since it was completed since our last visit and my husband was eager to see it. The new section that houses the cars is modern, spacious and full of interesting and educational exhibits about the science of aerodynamics and downforce. We have always found this museum to be impressive, with excellent, high-quality displays both indoors and out. There are two films, multi-media displays and entertaining hands-on learning opportunities. Obviously, it's funded at least in part by the petroleum companies, but we were pleased to see that they have added exhibits about conservation and other energy sources such as wind, solar and nuclear. We noticed that the information in the petroleum exhibits is being kept up-to-date as well. I recommend at least two hours or more to absorb it all and visit the outdoor equipment displays. The museum is open Monday through Saturday 10:00-5:00 and Sunday 2:00-5:00 (closed major holidays). Admission is $8-12 (under age 5 free). Wheelchair access is excellent. A nice shop offers books, collectibles and souvenirs. The museum doesn't have a cafe', but there are several restaurants within a mile at I-20 and Rankin Highway (exit 136).

I never knew this was in Midland! It was a great stop along our way to Big Bend. The staff were extremely nice, helpful and knowledgeable. There is not a ton to see but great for a quick stop. The guided tour takes about 30 minutes. Great little gift shop too.

We hung around the area for our anniversary this year and found this little gem. We went mid-day so it was pretty hot but trees cover a lot of the path. There is a "dock" that circles the pond but there are no trees around that path so we opted not to take it due to the heat. Neat stopping points along the trail. We didn't see much wildlife...lots of frogs and butterflies. Excellent just to spend a few hours hiking/walking through. Peaceful although you can hear the roar of I-20 traffic most of the time. We spend a good two hours enjoying nature in the outdoors.

My family and I are frequent visitors to the sports complex, it is always clean with plenty of options for food and drink, it has a picnic area, play ground, splash pad, train rides and alot of shade to get out of the Texas heat. We enjoy ball games at the park and love the fireworks after most weekend games.

Easily reached (near the MAF airport), this memorial is an excellent visit. The statue and chopper really gave visitors a perspective of the geography. Well worth the visit.

This is a museum of many different items. It changes all the time. They have wonderful art and Christmas display during the holidays. If you have not been to the Museum of the Southwest, you need t go.

This museum is a jewel in Midland. You can learn about the old west, surrounded by beautiful art exhibits. There is educational
history of the old cattle trail drives and original saddles and clothing of cowboys. The head of the museum, Pat McDaniel, can answer questions about Midland or the old west. It is worth a visit-not to be missed.

We experienced a concert for the first time at this venue. Great sound system, nice facilities, yet the strangest rules. Purchased 2 water bottles from the concession area and was handed 2 bottles - OPENED with NO lid. When questioned was told that the policy was no lids were to be provided. HELLO...... Purchase bottled water for a reason - sealed bottle being the number 1 reason. How do I know it is not just tap water - how long had it been opened - how do we keep from spilling it inside the concert area? Others had lids on their water bottles and was told server got in trouble for handing out bottles with lids - whoever determined this rule mid concert - THINK again - you were VERY wrong. Next time I will save my $$$$, bring my empty water bottle and fill it up at the water fountain.
