Took a trip upstate to get away for an extended weekend, decided to stop at the cavern. Was pleasantly surprised, good way you'll some time if you're into this sort of stuff. I recommend giving it a try, but go earlier in the year so you can go zip lining. That was closed for the season.

I stopped her today for lunch and ordered ham and cheese on a croissant with honey mustard. The croissant was so flaky and delicious!! There is also a large assortment of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, donuts, etc. If you don't need lunch there's a nursery and huge assortment of fruit, veggies, soaps, lotions, dairy, meat....really a one stop shop. The "barn" itself is set up so perfectly. Everything is artfully arranged and looks so appetizing!! Really a fun place to visit.

Visited Secret Caverns somewhat on a whim after we had planned a day trip to Howe Caverns. We had finished up at Howe, saw the signs and figured why not?
The best comparison I could give you is that Howe Caverns is a well-oiled tourism machine to teach about science, and Secret Caverns is like your hippie uncle bought a cavern and he really wants to share it with you because it's cool.
We did our tour of Secret Caverns with a total of 6 people, and four of them were our family - which was really nice. Our tour guide had a sarcastic dry sense of humor that we all truly enjoyed.
The steps to and from the cavern were a little rough while carrying our two year old, but once we were down, she had a blast. Being prepared with appropriate footwear is key - there's a few spots where it's a little muddy/wet.
Overall, great experience! Different/quirky/wacky especially when visiting immediately after Howe's - but really fun nonetheless.

We were just there (after several recent snowstorms) and we wore snowshoes, but could have done the hike in bare boots. As long as you go several days after any snowfall other hikers will have packed the trail down for you. It's not a difficult hike although there is some elevation gain. The easiest way up is the green (counter clockwise) trail. You can backtrack down or continue on the loop (green to blue to yellow and back to green) to close the loop which make it a little more interesting. However or whenever you do it the view is fantastic!

This seemed a pretty small place. But looking through the eyes of young children, it was just right. Since the day was built around them, that was a win. We got a $1 per person discount from our Howe Caverns tickets, a nice thing. We spent most of our time downstairs in the Children's museum. But that day they had beadwork demonstrations and a bread craft area for children. Score!
I didn't see lots of parking area but it wasn't crowded. The drive is circular so easy in and out. We have a small motorhome and had to park along the edge of the road to give cars room to get by us. We had no problem but it might be a little harder on an RV if the lot fills up.
Nice folks, interesting information and displays. What it lacks in size, it has in interest.

More than just an "old stone fort". The museum grounds include the cemetery, an old one room school house, an old barn, antique piano collection, nice gift shop, law office, Badgley museum, and more. Excellent presentation. Many artifacts. Terrific collection. Outstanding preservation of local history. Particularly enjoyed the military history and collection of muskets and other weaponry used during early American conflicts. The cemetery is fascinating - both civilian and military - and, still active today. Very old grave stones dating back to the 1700's. Quiet, relaxing area. Lots to see and explore. Modest admission fee and AAA discount.

Wonderful little shop at the foot of the Vroman's Nose Hike. Incredible fudge, excellent baked goods, cold beverages, and a nice lunch menu adjusted to the season. Open March/April until Christmas. Beautiful local quilts and gifts, coffee and teas available. Nice stop after the hike!Thank you for your kind words! I work with the railroad. I was passing buy and just happened to stumble across this museum. I love trains and anything to do with trains. I enjoy learning anything about the past and where it has taken us today. If you and your family enjoy trains you will enjoy the Museum. Always stay on track.

My husband and I visited on a Saturday. We thought the beer was very good. But, the staff wasn't very welcoming, not too friendly. I chalked it up to the woman being shy. She didn't seem interested in answering our questions. And ended up suggesting we hang out on the back patio. It was a nice day, so, we enjoyed that very much. We had to walk in the back of the Brewery to get to the patio. We walked into the Brewery room(guess that's what you call it) the gentleman in there didn't acknowledge us. Which we thought was a little odd. If you are looking for tasty beer, they don't serve food except for some popcorn and cheese platters then this is your place. We would definitely go in again for a beer, but, now knowing that if you are looking on learning about brewing that you won't find it here.
