Only a bus ride from centre of town. Exceptionally knowledgeable tour guide talked us through the Chateau's history. Private collection of wine dating back to 1893 was good to see. Interesting to learn about the 'terroirs'. Tour lasted about 1hr10 mins. Followed by tasting of two different wines they make (1 good, 1 exceptional). 20€ for the 1hr30 experience. Worth doing - just ring them directly! Nice little shop, too.

Went here for an hour to chill out by a lake and have some lunch. Ended up being about three hours and really enjoyed the place. Great for kids and something different. The caves were something else. Really interesting and different and something I wasn't really expecting. Great to go for a run or a picnic. Private. Lots of space and parking. Really enjoyable.

Whilst I am not sure Corbusier's talent matched his fame this is well worth a visit. The opening times varied between web sites so check in advance, but basically it seems to be open Tuesday-Sunday but closed for lunch. Quite a long journey by tram and bus but through enjoyable Bordeaux suburbs.
No tour was available when I visited but I was presented with a lovely and detailed book free of charge. The house is small and looking round only takes a few minutes but I enjoyed wandering around the rest of the site noting houses of differing styles and diverse states of repair.
Unité d'Habitation in Marseille is much bigger and the common areas have unrestricted access. The rooftop is a highlight with wonderful views over the city.

If you know something about Bordeaux wines or nothing at all this wine bar is a must do attraction.. A wine list by the glass that changes monthly showcasing a range of sparkling, white, clairet, rose and red wines. Beautiful, comfortable air-conditioned setting, quality glassware and exceptionally modest pricing ensures you can try out a great range of the regions wines. Prices range from 2 euros to 8 on average and if you ask for "un demi" you'll get 15cl of wine per glass at half the price allowing you to sample a seriously wide range of wines. Have been here 5 times now and never disappointed.

I can categorically state that this feature does not work in the winter. It is not switched on until the middle of April. This information comes from the tourist information centre.

This is a beautiful old gate with two clocks and a bell tower. The big bell was erected in 1775 and replaced an older bell that was damaged in the fire of 1774.
As a nearby plaque states, the bell was the 'bearer of all good and bad tidings to the people of Bordeaux.'
There are two different clocks, one on each side of the gate, so be sure to look at both sides.
