What to do and see in Menorca, Balearic Islands: The Best Sights & Landmarks

December 10, 2021 Major Galusha

As the first place in Spain to see the sunrise, Minorca is like the country’s ambassador to the morning. Beaches here are beautiful and, surprisingly, relatively empty. The jewel-colored water is a magnet for waterskiers, windsurfers and sailors. Playa De Binigaus beach is perfect for families, while Cala Mitjana is an idyllic spot for romance. Head to the town of Alaoir to nibble on some fresh local cheese or turn back time in the charming fishing village of Fornells.

We travelled as a family to this place to see the views and were not disappointed. The views all around are worth seeing and there is plenty of parking at the top. One of Menorca's highlights.

Wonderful shopping area with beautiful arches and walk ways. We love visting this area to stroll along looking in the shops or stopping for a drink in one of the many bars and restaurants in the area. Great during the day but it comes alive at night , a must for any tourist.

An essential visit to get an idea of the Talayotic civilization. I recommend visiting near sunset with comfortable shoes. A small entrance fee of 3€, it's worth all of them.

Cala Trebaluger is an idyllic, relaxing beach that was absolutely worth the hot walk from Cala Mitjana! It is much less crowded than many other Calas on Menorca and yet is a beauty to the eyes and refreshment to the soul. I will definitely revisit!

Most beautiful lighthouse! We drove out in early March on a very windy day. Drove within 100 yards of the lighthouse. Easy walk maybe 5 minutes. The lighthouse was not opened, not sure if it ever is open? Well worth the drive from Mahon to see this strikingly beautiful structure.

Visited twice, the first time with south wind, crystal clear water with beautiful colors, lots of fish near the rocks if you like snorkeling. 5-10 minutes walk from the parking. There is no natural shade except for a few hours early in the morning. I came back with a light north wind, found dirty water (plastic, oil) as often happens in Menorca with unfavorable wind. Real shame.

Saw the lunchtime, 13.00 for half an hour organ resightal on this site- we have just returned from our trip in May and the €5 was do well worth the opportunity to see and hear the amazing organ being played in this lovely church. They live stream the view so you can see the incredible speed and skill of the organist. I had goosebumps and it was not due the the cool temp. in church. So worth a visit.

Beautiful city, full of great architecture, good market and plenty of shops, scenic harbour. Reasonable prices in restaurants. Went twice in a week. The cathedral is amazing.
