What to do and see in Menorca, Balearic Islands: The Best Food & Drink

September 21, 2021 Tonie Szymanski

As the first place in Spain to see the sunrise, Minorca is like the country’s ambassador to the morning. Beaches here are beautiful and, surprisingly, relatively empty. The jewel-colored water is a magnet for waterskiers, windsurfers and sailors. Playa De Binigaus beach is perfect for families, while Cala Mitjana is an idyllic spot for romance. Head to the town of Alaoir to nibble on some fresh local cheese or turn back time in the charming fishing village of Fornells.

Cuk-Cuk Experience

Open from May 1st to October 31st. "Paella" (Valencia recipe with vegetables and meats), "Fideua" (like paella but using seafood and pasta instead of rice), "Caldereta" (Menorca stew of fish and shellfish), or other Menorca's specialities. Choose from our offer which dish you want to cook with us (one induction cooking top every two people), and we'll make it together at Cuk-Cuk, a traditional house in Ciutadella's Old Town. Then enjoy your "work" in the house's small and cozy garden. The experience includes one drink and dessert.

My sister and I wanted to do something special so we booked this cooking experience based on the good reviews. We are very glad we did as we had a very lovely evening! Everything was perfect: Elena and Alejandro were great hosts, we cooked a delicious paella and we met nice people from France, the UK, Italy and Portugal who were there to enjoy the cooking experience too. At the end of the evening, we enjoyed eating our paella in Elena and Alejandro's garden with a glass of wine and the other guests. Dessert was refreshing ice cream with local biscuits and we also all got to drink a glass of a local drink. A few days later, Elena and Alejandro emailed us the recipe of the paella we had made along with some photos of the emails. 5 stars!
