Colle del Gianicolo

A scenic hill popular for its breathtaking views of the city.

Reviewed By Lovett17

Every day at noon, the canon fires (blancs of course) across the city a tradition since 1847, on the order of Pope Pius IX. In addition to a spectacular view there is an interesting park with the statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi on his horse and along the road nearby busts of famous soldiers who died in the process of the unifaction of the various states and the battles that ensued. Further along can be found Giuseppe's wife Anita also on horse-back, a pistol in one hand her baby in the other - some girl!

Mount Lycabettus

Walk or take the funicular tramway to the top of this hill for the best views of Athens

Reviewed By 37SueFo - Swanley, United Kingdom

Get a taxi to the funicular railway, and when you get out at the top, a couple of flights of steps will bring you out to the church and terrace, with 360° views of the city, looking down on the Olympic stadium and the Acropolis and across to Piraeus. There are a couple of bar/restaurants so you can have a drink and take in the views

Parc de la Ciutadella

The 44 acres (18 hectares) are home to Castell dels Tres Dragons, the Umbracle (plant house) and Hivernacle (glass house).

Reviewed By Chow_TW - Edinburgh, United Kingdom

One of the larger parks in central Barcelona, Parc de la Ciutadella has alot to offer, being near the Zoo (which requires a ticket purchase), as well as some other historic landmarks like the Castle of the Three Dragons. However, even if you arent the photo-taking type, this park has alot of sitting areas (benches or grass patches) where you can escape the crowds in other parts of Barcelona. There are also many locals who use the space for exercise or practising their hobbies so you almost feel like you are immersing with everyday life here. Spent a good few hours here just wandering around and lazing with friends in a very people-friendly green space!

Monte Pincio

Reviewed By 82manuelal - Luxembourg City, Luxembourg

My most favorite park in Rome, the view is stunning over the city, also the view to Piazza del Popolo is wonderful; so much banch to have a sit under palms, nice fountains; the Villa Borghese is accessible from this vast expansif Pincio Gardens; plenty of attractions; you can rent bikes or a riscio, operated with a mixture of pedal or an electrical power and that make for a very relaxed tour to see all the park; I find it also very relaxing on a banch, in the sunshine of Rome and see waching people, children playing; ideal also for a nice picnic; you will never feel bored ; or it's great to observe inspection from the police, riding on white horses, with posh elegance.

Villa Torlonia

Reviewed By Antoinevilain69

A sort of Neverland. The place was invented as a Walt Disney land for adults, mini casino, mini Theatre, mini palace, folie ruins of bygone Ancient Rome, a wintergarden based upon Kew Gardens, then Musolini took it over in the 20's and rented it for 1 Lire a year ( atneth of a cent). It was abandoned after the war but recently overhauled and even more recently recenved an upgraded trim and conditioning of the gardens. Truly magic and slightly off the beaten track. Wonderful. A lot of people train here, sports wise, but not too many.
