A place to visit if you are in the area but not somewhere to make a special effort to see. Purpose built marina filled with pleasure craft with basically pedestrianised roads on 3 sides. Lots of bars, cafes and restaurants which are pleasant to sit outside when the weather is warm. We watched some kids feeding the fish by the quayside. It’s a very touristy area. Better to explore the lanes and plazas inland from the marina.

This a great historical building right in the middle of the little village of Castillo. You get a tremendous view over the cast and towards the Rif Mountains in Morocco and, of course, Gibraltar. There are also the remains of a Roman fish processing building, which unfortunately the Ayuntamento have allowed to be partly built on and the rest being neglected. Well worth a visit to the castle though.

Amazing rock formations and a flavour of its big brother El Torqual de Antequera. This is a linear walk so it is an advantage if you have two cars and walk from the west to the east. You need proper shoes as it is rocky and an uneven surface. Do not go if wet weather! The walk itself takes an hour one way, but allow time for taking photographs and if you only have one car allow Three hours as it is probably more strenous to walk uphill going back. Bring water, more if it is hot. It was at first a Little difficult to find the turnoff. It is approximately 3 km from the autopist and the second turmoff on your right. There were no sign showing the turnoff, but there was a sign showing that this is Ruta nº 11 - El Canuto de la Utrera and a plan. Once we passed the first pen and its cattlegrids we parked the car by a farm and started walking. The trail was well marked with green and white signs and by the end you may visit a roman bath. Check Google maps to make navigation to the starting point easier. It is worth a visit because of its formations. You need to be able to walk on uneven ground and to move around some rocks. You do not have to climb!

We always head into the port as part of our walk from Sabinillas.
There are several places to sit and enjoy a drink or a full breakfast.
Many of these cafe/bars are sun traps and great for catching a few rays.
On a busy day you can enjoy plenty of people watching.

Attended mass last Easter Sunday in this bright and airy church which was a refreshing change from many Spanish churches which can be dark, gloomy and overly ornate.
After mass joined the Easter procession from the church a long with many local people. Felt the great sense of community as we walked.
Manilva is a lovely little place, typically Spanish and a centre for wine making.

Visited Gran de Select through Tannintrail.com there were 4 of us and met Frederik who made us feel welcome and gave us the story on how the business started, This is a different way of brewing and the great thing is the beer is bottled in champagne shaped bottles, I was lucky enough to open a bottle with a sword as you may have seen how they open champagne bottles, tasting was excellent and had tapas to go with it and of course bought some to take home, really enjoyed.
