The Castle Square of Montemerano, was the largest and most important, was the parade ground for soldiers stationed in the castle, which were training here and could move about easily in the event of an assault. Suggestive passage to access it, you will cross a arch that frames.

One of the most beautiful small churches we have visited in Italy.....and we have visited hundreds! Exquisite frescos, statuary, architecture and of course....."The Cat Hole"! A must see in this absolutely charming village!

Sunny January day, perfect scenery. Absolutely loved spending hours soaking in the 37 degrees Celsius water. Relaxing and good for the skin. Be prepared: no facilities available. Get changed in the car, keep an eye on your belongings. Visit the Waterfalls and the stream above. Totally free

We went there at the end of September, thus there weren't too many people there and you could really relax. Additionally, it is free! There is a caffee next to it were you can also use showers etc.

The Castle is probably earlier than the XII cent. Inside, are contained works of art of the authors of the late XIX and the first half of the XX Cent., but also contemporaries. It is home of Municipal Administration. It is open from Monday to Friday at 8,00-13,30. Tuesday and Thursday 15,30- 17.30. An Friday at 19-20 hours guided tour on request. The view that can be seen from the tower is unique.
We visited the museum on a Saturday morning and the young lady in charge of the place was extremely helpful - the artifacts are displayed well and there is good use of ITC equipment. The information is in Italian only but this did not detract from the visit. Although the tower is closed on Saturday because the museum was not busy the attendant was kind enough to open up the tower for us to see the splendid view from the top of the tower.

The museum was inaugurated in 1985 with the intent to rebuild the lives of the communities in the area of the Fiora River Valley from the Palaeolithic to the Bronze Age.On display are many artifacts including bones of extinct animals, flint arrowheads, fragments of pottery, furniture, tools, fabricated metal and bone, cremation burial ornaments of the Bronze Final age.
