This areal is wonderful. Snow from early winter to late spring, short queues, wide choice of restaurants. Ski rentals are everywhere. Easy reachable by bus. Also during summer you will enjoy this place.

Pleasant hike up the valley stream taking time to rock hop in the stream, collect blue berries and raspberries Straight forward parallel path with wooden Bridges and steps during the steeper parts. 34 C day so really enjoyed the coolness of the forest & ice cold water.
Good info boards about geology, flora & fauna enroute.
Blue route finishes at chata Barborka.
Can continue walk up to Praděd 1491m summit. Restaurant etc. Bus down hill to Hevezda car park from Ovčárna hotel.
Limited parking at walk start. Better at Hvezda where the bus stops on the way back down. All in a good day out.

We spotted this place after a walk around the town and as we got closer saw the sign telling us it is a MUSEUM.
In we went and found that while the lady on the ticket counter did not speak English she used Google and showed us the screen to explain a few things which was superb.
At 14:00 we then went off with an English speaking Guide as well as a booklet about the history of the place and we had a fabulous time seeing all the rooms and listening to the explanations about them.
I guess we must have been going around the place for close on 2 hours by the time we came out.
Sadly the 'castle' is sat on underground water as there is a well inside that still gives out water and this is causing damp problems inside the building as there was no such thing as a 'damp course' laid when it was built.
While they do have de-humidifiers installed the damp is causing problems so if you get the chance to see it, then go sooner than later as it might not be there in a few years which would be a shame!

This place is not about technical architecture only. You can take funicular and then shuttle bus to get on the top - 1 353 m above sea level (you start at 564 m). And you will open your mounth there. Pool is so big, but the view all around is breathtaking. You can see Praděd tower and beautiful nature of Jeseníky.

11 km downhill ski tracks, more than 4 km with evening enlightenment, 70 km maintained cross-country ski tracks, ski lift capacity over 11 ths people/hour. The biggest ski lift is the Karlov Ski Express (4 seats) and close to it there is a new family ski track with length of 1,45 km opened newly in 2017. There are also popular 2-seats lifts Myšák and Klobouk/Olomoučák. And many classic lifts all around here. The downhill ski tracks are eligible for all levels - 6 blue tracks, 6 red tracks and 1 black track (Pařezovka at Olomoučák hill). For children you can use the snow playground, snowtubing track at Myšák hill, skicross tracks, there are also 3 ski schools. Many hotels and small guest houses are here (> 60) some of them with sauna and other wellness equipment, you may use also the rental of ski, snowboards, snowshoes or fatbikes.

V době, kdy nebylo nic okolo jsme rádi jezdili do tohoto bazénu, ale dnes doporučujeme spíše bazén a wellness v Bruntále.

Nejlépe he vyrazit z Karlovi Studánky údolím Bílé Opavy přes Ovčárnu až na Praděd. Určitě si užijete nádherné výhledy příznivého počasí. Super výlet.

Tuto středně těžkou pěší túru muzeme začít v Karlově Pod Pradedem, kde se vydame nahoru směrem na Ovcarnu. Čeká nás převýšení cca 700 m, ktere nas ohromi krásnou přírodou a místem, odkud muzeme pozorovat volně pasoucí se kamzíky.
Z Ovčárny se dá vrátit zpátky autobusem, nebo můžeme pěšky pokračovat az na Praděd (1-1,5 hod.). Z Pradědu je možné zapůjčit koloběžky za 100 Kč a sjet zpátky na Ovčárnu.
Kdo se nemusí vracet do Karlova, at vyzkouší túru pres Vodopády Bílé Opavy do Karlovy Studánky, která je naprosto dechberouci.
po trase se dá obcerstvit na Ovčárně, na Pradedu, na chatě Barborka. Po cestě na Praděd a během túry pres Velkou Kotlinu, vytéká i pramen čisté horské vody.
