What to do and see in Mahe Island, Seychelles: The Best Sightseeing Tours

March 8, 2022 Flossie Demartino

The Seychelles largest and main island, Mahe is home to the capital of Victoria and about 70,000 people (almost 90% of the nation's total). Still, the island retains its idyllic beauty, with 3,000-foot mountains and scores of gorgeous beaches. Many plants, including the so-called Jellyfish Tree and several rare orchids, are unique to Mahe's shores. The Seychelles Natural History Museum, the Botanical Gardens and the Codevar Craft Centre, all in Victoria, are not to be missed.

We were three couples visiting Mahe Island for the day while our cruise ship was there. Our tour guide was Jude and he picked us up and dropped us off at the port. What I really like about him is that he has perfect English, was very informative and was very flexible. He also has a great sense of humor. He also gave us a clear picture of life in the Seychelles and was willing to deviate from his standard tour in any way we wished. He found us a great seafood restaurant on the water for lunch. He also understood the need for timelines as we needed to get back to the ship on time!

The tour of the island with Ryan was excellent. I really recommend it. Ryan explains very well all the particularities of Mahé. He took us almost to all the beaches and spots in Mahé. Ryan proposes to adapt the program according to your preferences. Ryan is very kind and passionated about his work. The van is really comfortable too. The tour of the island with Ryan is a must if you want to discover Mahé.

Not everyone who has traveled to the Seychelles has had the opportunity to visit the rock pool. It's not that easy to find, but we'll take you there. The rock pool is unique and the hike there is easy to walk. It is a pleasant tour because you will see some of Mahé on the way there and it can ideally be seen as a half-day tour. You have the possibility to eat something later in the region, the whole thing is really very relaxed, also suitable for children from 6 years. Incidentally, our company is licensed and insured, certified by the tourism authority and licensed by the government.

The mentioned sights / arrival points are only a few options. In reality you will see a lot more on this island tour than we can describe. We know the Seychelles as Seychellois, we are very flexible with your wishes, we are happy to deal with everything you want to see and discover. We speak German, English and French. The south of Mahé is full of surprises and Islandtour Seychelles makes it an incredible experience. The trail is accessible only by foot but it is definitely worth the while if you love nature! We have certainly done this tour to Anse Major over 1000 times and we are still fascinated by this tour to this day. The tour to Anse Major is easy to do, even in bad weather. You have a great view of the northwest of Mahé. The Anse Major is not accessible by car, so you have to make a little effort, but will be rewarded exceptionally. As a group of four, we booked a morning excursion via easy communication the day before. The Creole team showed up exactly on time, and they were easy to find. Michael and his team were courteous, friendly, professional, and happy to work with our requests. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning, and I wouldn't hesitate to book with Creole Odyssea again.
